(1,582 posts)The label might say something to the effect that "up to 15% broth" has been added. I believe most if not all of the big producers do this. I complained to a store about this, because at that store all of the chicken for sale has been pumped. I'm happy to say that now that store also carry chicken from a local producer that is not pumped (and they raise their own chickens). It is OK (sort of) if the label says there might be up to a few percent of retained water - this is a normal effect of how chicken is processed is the US.
