Years and years ago, when I was a first or second grader, my mother would read to us kids every afternoon when we got home from school. She read all the old children's classics (Grims's Fairy Tales, Hans Christian Anderson, Wizard of Oz, etc.) The books I remember the most were Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. I just loved those stories!

Do kids read these books anymore?

Back in 5th grade we had a teacher would read to us an hour everyday, Animals Farm, Brave New World, Watership Down, where the red fern grows. Now that was an education.
