Militia goons mock combat vets who display f*ggoty ass yard signs asking for fireworks courtesy
A Facebook group operated by right-wing military veterans mocked combat veterans who asked neighbors to be courteous when celebrating the Fourth of July holiday with fireworks.
The OAF Nation account posted an image Wednesday evening that showed a bearded veteran wearing a T-shirt reading comfortable with violence standing beside a placard distributed by a mental health advocacy group.
Combat veteran lives here: Please be courteous with your fireworks, read the signs, which were shipped for free to veterans by the group Military With PTSD.
OAF Nation and a related account, Operator as f*ck, each posted identical homophobic posts mocking veterans who display the signs.
Well which one is it, sister?! the posts read. Are you comfortable with violence or do you want people to cater to your fragility because you volunteered to be around sh*t that blows the f*ck up? Thank f*ck the Taliban and AQ dont have roman candles and firecrackers.
What do you guys think about these f*ggoty ass yard signs? the account administrator asks group members, listing several hashtags intended to underscore the posts subtext.

(3,557 posts)Fireworks really don't bother me. It's a different experience when I'm sitting in the grass with one of my young daughters sitting in my lap than when I was on patrol in Iraq or in a firefight.
The smells, sights, and sounds are completely different to me.
However that being said, I completely understand the problems some vets have with them. The smell of cordite absolutely drives me nuts.

(4,461 posts)... I'm not sure how that may play into the story line, though. Is the guy in the photo the veteran? Is he the guy mocking the vet? I don't know. But what assholes.

(15,859 posts)It would make more sense if that were the case. How could someone with PTSD be comfortable with violence but not loud noise? I guess its possible, just seems odd to me. Assholes. Yep.

(300 posts)Photoshop fakery. The signs on the door however, are real. The one Facebook account is blank.
The nonsense and people manufacturing stories to bring traffic to their website are enough for me not to even pursue this. Lots of fakery going on.

(5,354 posts)presumably, they'd have some sympathy for their fellow veterans who actually saw combat.
I know some military veterans who served on bases in Germany or Japan, or on ships in the Caribbean/Atlantic, etc.. who like to boast about how they "protected" America during their service. But they didn't see any combat. I'm guessing these guys who are insulting the conditions of combat veterans are of the "lightweight" non-combat vet variety.

As for the comments, it is clear that none of the people commenting have ever been involved in anything resembling combat.

(53,339 posts)It's especially low to mock their supposed brothers in arms for war trauma--something that, in many cases, makes the objects of their attack disabled veterans. And to top it off, they hurl sexist and homophobic slurs at their supposed comrades.

(50,555 posts)...when one of these "operator as fuck" (note to the OAF people: playing Call of Duty doesn't count) morans decides to start shooting off fireworks in front of a house displaying one of these signs to "man him up," and the veteran inside has a Fallujah flashback, pulls the AR-15 out of the umbrella stand and puts two in the OAF guy's five-ring?

(10,201 posts)These fuck-heads claim to be military veterans. I cry bullshit. Not one branch of the service would stand for this. Not one. Search out any warrior ethos, or any code from any of the branches of service. You won't find anything remotely resembling these ass-hat's conduct.
What these so-called veterans are in essence doing, is leaving a brother or sister behind. But not just behind, but fuck-you-it's-all-about-me behind. There is no honor in what they're doing. None. Not one shred. They dishonor themselves and the uniform they supposedly wore.
These are brothers and sisters who carry deep wounds, scars that no one can see. Proud, honorable scars that have a weight I know that I could never carry myself.
The military I know is: mission first, people always. End of story. These fucking perverted, sick fucks, are an exemplary version of the exact opposite.
No honor.
