Consumers fought long and hard to get country-of-origin labels on meat and poultry. But now the meat industry has teamed up with Mexico and Canada to get rid of them, and they could succeed unless consumers speak out.
After an adverse ruling by the World Trade Organization, Congress may cave in to threats from other countries and gut the labeling law, rather than taking the time to work out a compromise. The House just voted to repeal country-of-origin labels and now it's in front of the Senate.
Tell your Senators to vote NO on the repeal of COOL labels. You have the right to make an informed choice when shopping – don’t let pressure from other countries and giant meat processors take that away!
