No matter where you live, its a diverse world out there, and you'll find people who feel the same way you do in every state. The successful campaigns are the ones that cut through the noise and use data like this to move our country forward.

(20,886 posts)Maybe after I get back from Los Osos. Not terribly liberal down there, but I sure like the area.

(863 posts)I know that Eugene Oregon is not a perfect place to live. I know there are too many folks without a home and good jobs are scarce. But.............. I moved to Eugene about 8 years ago after living in Texas for over 20 years. 20 years of watching the folks that I voted for get about 30% of the total on election day. 20 years of suburban sprawl with no concern for protecting the environment, no organized recycling, and monster electric bills. 20 years of policies that attack unions, public education, and minorities.
Here in Eugene I'm represented by Peter DeFazio in Congress and have two decent U.S. senators and a progressive Governor. The mayor does a very good job. Eugene has mandatory recycling and the local electric company works to help you reduce your bill. My stepson is a local union rep who works for the city. They actually work together to achieve a decent contract.
I like living in Eugene.
Here is a survey that rates the best place to live if you are a hippie. (Note: Eugene was rated #1)

(4,516 posts)I live in Tulsa in X zip code and that's the exact result it gave me. There is a church on every corner and a rebel flag on every other house. On 2nd thought, hell, a section of Tulsa with only ONE church on every corner and a flag at every OTHER house? Probably as liberal as it gets.

(16,104 posts)I finally understood, "Out of the frying pan, into the fire."
However, Inhofe may be the most "fundamental" of all, so I'll grant you that - my boys Shelby and Sessions don't have a "snowball's chance on the Senate floor" of out-teabagging Inhofe!

(12,675 posts)that I live in. My mailing address is Maidsville, WV but we actually live in Osage, WV. Osage doesn't have a post office anymore, so our mail has a Maidsville address.
Osage is a tiny, primarily black town that exists on the outskirts of West Virginia's most liberal city (Morgantown) so it's not a big surprise that it's stuffed full of liberals.

The rest were unsurprising: Ashland, Portland, Eugene...and Yachats, a small coastal town which I've visited a couple of times.
