(67,112 posts)women that vote for someone like Brownback. I just don't get it, I really really don't. Sometimes I think it's a christian persecution complex wanting to be punished by authoritarians.

I'm so fed up with all of this, it's really really getting tiring listening to their endless crap. And then they wonder why people are leaving their states, why educated youth don't want to hang around.

(2,671 posts)No one in my circle of friends did, but apparently lots of other people voted for him. I don't understand the republican mind-set at all. He is doing to Kansas what he wants to do to the whole country.

(5,198 posts)for such basic human rights all over again--these regressives want to turn time backwards. It is so amazing that they actually have this much of a stronghold anywhere.
I wish we had stronger federal (Constitutional) human rights laws to protect women, gays and minorities, so that no state could pass such laws as this--ever. They would have to be clearly written so no idiot could mistake the interpretation, right?!
RKP5637
(67,112 posts)This act should be unconstitutional under the US constitution, but Kansas is trying to pass it, as I understand it's temporarily shelved. And they wonder why people leave Kansas, and/or will not go there for work ... believe me, KS is a place to leave!

(67,112 posts)a real democracy in action, isn't it ... somehow they think crap like this is making Kansas a destination for people wanting jobs and corporations to move here. That, along with the plan for no income tax and no corporate tax.
The state of KS I read one place will be in debt something like two billion dollars if this goes forward. I just can't imagine a young bright person with it leaving the coasts to make Kansas their dream come true. One democratic legislature got up in one meeting and said something to the affect that if they keep this up they'll be scaring everyone from Kansas.
felix_numinous
(5,198 posts)in certain parts of the country if this keeps up. That is just what they want--yeah--they want us all to run from them.
Once predatory types go on a feeding frenzy they can't stop themselves, it is up to us to stop them. ALL stick together and stop acting like prey.
I think the adults need to take over, Occupy everywhere--not run away from them--we all need to have each other's backs and stick together. I know this is easier to say than to do, but this is exactly what has to happen--bullies are the ones that need to be controlled--not everybody else, right?

(67,112 posts)married and raise lots of babies. Seriously. This KS gov. is completely invasive now into telling people how to run their lives and what is legal that should be personal private decisions. One of the problems in KS is I guess a lot of people want what he's doing. The republican preference and more and more conservative authoritarianism seems to be winning across Kansas, even in the once moderate areas in eastern Kansas as far as I know.
They vote these controlling authoritative people in, some of them over and over. As some have said, his goal is barefoot uneducated women all over Kansas just having kids. The brain drain is already going on here, the younger generation has been fleeing Kansas for some years now. One can surely see why. We're getting out of here too as soon as we can.

(5,198 posts)I am such an idealist--and do feel we all have to stick together and not back off whenever we can--yet realize in the real world we have to survive. Hopefully the RW will become so insane that it will self destruct.
Good luck with your move, wish there was a way to find out where all the cool DUers live--maybe they are not too far from you.

(67,112 posts)own worst interests. As someone once said, a real problem with Kansans is they still think they are voting for Eisenhower republicans. I've met a number of people in Kansas proud of the fact they've never left the state, even on a vacation or anything. Now all Kansans aren't like that, of course. Someone once told me that in parts of Kansas they don't even put up democratic challengers for office. Enough people must love people like Brownback, as he was elected senator over and over again, and then as soon as he ran for governor he was elected.

(30 posts)Why aren't young women up in arms? They seem to take abortion rights for granted, and don't realize that every day that right is being eroded.
I work at a college, and they are so blissfully unaware of what is going on, it makes me furious. I don't understand why young women are very happily becoming second class citizens again.
