WTF?! Usually when a film bombs like the first film did they scrap plans for sequels.

(82,849 posts)At least in the usual list of dreck movies, there really wasn't an expectation that Ed Wood was threatening to invade the pantheon of great cinematic art. But I have little doubt that some of the folks involved in the Atlas project truly believe they are involved in the next classic of American movie-making. Which makes it all the funnier.

Seriously, that is worst trailer ever. Why should I give a flying fuck about metal, a train, and John Galt?

(21,925 posts)Intentionally caused by someone to get back at the evil socialist government. Rand describes all the dead, all the victims as socialism-loving parasites who had it coming, like school teachers and professors. It's not just terrible writing. It's a manifesto of evil.

(2,419 posts)Watching that trailer, there were a lot of elements of the Nazi propaganda movies we analyzed in class. They make the union rep and the unfriendly legislator look all weaselly while the "heroes" look like characters from high-brow 1940's musicals. Its like rich people's porn.

(21,646 posts)Like the Nazis , their propaganda can work on the younger adults who then take up the philosophy with vigour and can create a wave
They are hoping it sells heads without regards to profit
Will they issue some version of their holy book on a regular basis over and over every year now?

Save the movie theater space for better movies, like 'The Dictator'.

(2,682 posts)many years ago. I don't recall all of it, of course, but I do recall that they made very little impression on me as a novel and no impression at all as a political statement. So when I read about Ayn Rand and the affect her novels had on some people, I'm puzzled. It must be that those people who worship Rand were looking for something to hang their hats on in the first place and projected what they wanted into the novels. Pshaw -- it ain't great literature. As for making a sequel to the original movie, well, isn't this where they get to find out how free enterprise works? They can pour all the money the Koch's will give them into the project, but in the end, if the public won't plant their asses in seats, it's not going anywhere, even as propaganda.
