The execs at AA have been drinking their blood for years. I remember about 10 years ago they were hammering the mechs for concessions because the airline was "struggling".

At the same time, 44 top execs in the company were set to rake in millions in bonuses. As I understand it, the "last best offer" the company put on the table this time didn't leave them with much to lose.
