"My Skin"
My skin, my skin it burns... you
your eyes
your mind
your heart
You rant
You rage
You hate...
me
But my skin, my skin it burns
with life
with joy
with pride
I live
I learn
I love...
me
Your hate will never define me
Your violence will never confine me
I am
I will
I shall be...
...all that is inside me
You are broken
but...
you won't break me

(90,764 posts)It was written on a piece of paper with a map on one side, directions to Forsyth County from Atlanta. I found it on my walk back to the parking lot after the march. I kept it all these years.

(2,065 posts)the victims spoke in today. I was in awe of their defiance to let his actions allow hate in their hearts. Strong, amazing people. Thanks for sharing this.
