Started with breast cancer 15 years ago. She had surgery, chemo, and was cancer free until November, 2010 when it returned to the other breast. Surgery, radiation, chemo, all was well and then it showed up in a lymph node in her neck. Now it is in the myelin at the base of her brain and possibly on her spine. She is undergoing more radiation and chemo and we are all in a state of shock and fear.
We don't have a prognosis, yet, but any prayers and/or positive thoughts are much appreciated. She's an amazing woman who raised 3 equally amazing kids. This is my only sister and I dread the thought of growing old without her around to keep me sane.

(1,708 posts)Prayers coming that treatments help and it can be stopped. I can't imagine how rough it would be to hear those words, "You have cancer" again would be. Wishing strength and stamina for her. And difficult for you too, to be worried for your only sister - good thoughts coming for you, and your nephews/nieces. Lots of prayers for all of you from this 1-year breast cancer survivor.

(26,316 posts)Here I am, single, childless and healthy as a horse, eat and drink what I want and pay little attention to health issues, because I never have any. She's always been so health conscious following all the guidelines and recommendations, and bam. Life is just so unfair.
I will keep you in my thoughts, too.

(7,719 posts)I know your fear. I have lived it. My wife was diagnosed in 2002 with breast cancer. She had a bi-lateral mastectomy, clear margins, no rads, no chemo. We had ten great years before it returned last December. Come join us at the cancer group. People there have gone and some are going through this right now. Maybe we can help you through this difficult period and you can talk to folks familiar with treatments and drugs through their own experiences. They helped me through, and continue to lend support. You'll like it.
