He might have checked out the curriculum first:
Page 173. Graduate course Theology 678Western and New Religions.
Course description:
"The history, doctrines, and present state of the major cults such as Mormonism, Christian Science, Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventism. The course will also include a study of the Occult Movement. Emphasis is placed on the errors of these groups and on methods and materials for confronting them effectively."
Keep pandering to anti-Mormon fundies, Mitt. It's so becoming.
Mitt is a disgusting shell of man with zero principles!!

Nothing wrong with Mittens joining up with his fascist friends at Liberty U. They are all soul mates, just like their blood diamond brother, Pat Robertson.
Money is what they love, not Christ. I don't know how many more times this will be thrown in the face of Americans before learning occurs.
Agreed, Mittens has no principles and neither do those he's going to speak to there. The only thing that gives them the mantle of respectability is the enormous wealth of these untaxed groups. They seem to be solid and powerful, and to their eyes, that makes them right.

(21,925 posts)influence their decisions in office, if elected, I think it's just a matter of time until the Mormon issue becomes a major focus of the election. Someone is going to dig up something that Romney did as part of his religious pursuits that many people will find unusual. When that happens, wait for Obama's alleged Muslim background to again be dredged up.

(550 posts)Please note that this is purely speculative, but I suspect that they are bigoted to an even greater extent against homosexuals than they ever could be Mormons. Perhaps, being fundementally warped, they see Romney as an almost Christ like figure descended from heaven to remove Barack Obama from the White House.
Perhaps they worship Christ as so fervently because they believe he ensures that they'll pay less tax and be delivered from homosexuality by angels like Mitt Romney & Rush Limbaugh.

(17,865 posts)course. I really don't see a problem with the course (assuming you would go to Liberty University). I would expect to see BYU have a similar course on the truthfulness of Joseph Smith's revelation, and a description on why Christians rejected it. Also both schools could have a course as to why Jews have rejected Jesus Christ (conversely Jewish theology courses could be about why Christians have been deceived into accepting a lunatic as the messiah). It is a part of a healthy debate about theology and not "bashing" other religions. At the end of the day can you hang with your friend of another faith after having this discussion (maybe listen to some music or go play softball). You can agree on that. You can also agree to watch over each other's children and help to teach them right from wrong (which is mostly universal).
One person's cult is another person's faith. I have always enjoyed my interactions with those of the Mormon faith. I don't accept their theology, but I have counted some of them my closest friends.
