i had the biggest urge to make a sign saying, "Bigotry and Hate Take the Day in NC" and stick it in my car the day after the election. i didn't do it. i hope this is a comfort to the oppressed.

Amendment One becomes our state's shame

As much as I hate to say this, I’m ashamed of my state right now.

More specifically, I’m ashamed of the majority of registered voters who decided to enshrine discrimination against gays in our state Constitution via Amendment One, or as I like to call it, “Abomination One.”

He ends the piece by saying, "I know a lot of good Christians who live the life and do good deeds, and Christianity has brought countless blessings to this world. But this time, those selectively using its tenets committed an abomination.

It is a shame.

That pic is probably from the Prop 8 saga.

not that it matters much, I know there are churches in NC who share that sentiment

The sign is pretty awesome, too. Makes me think maybe (just maybe) there's hope for progressive Christians, yet.

I would say there's a number of DU Xtians who could learn a thing or two from this sign about what many LGBT, atheist/agnostic, and in general non-Xtian folks want from believers under the Big Umbrella that is the Democratic Party.

Most were just disgusted at the bigotry in the state but there were a few telling those of us who "just don't understand" that it is God's law and "get over it". One suggested that John needs to find a proper church and he will soon figure it out!
