why all the shock, this is expected from a southern state like NC. I bet all the southern states would vote the same way.

Democrats are the largest political party. Republicans haven't held the legislature since reconstruction until 2010. Polling put the overall population as favoring same sex marriage or civil unions at 53%.

I know it is today's reality, but to hurt good people simply because voters are warped and can, just doesn't seem right.

And primaries have lower voting turn outs, it explains why these radical things are usually put in primaries.

Now Prop 8 on November of 2008, that was shocking, until you look a what proponents ran.
