Graffiti artists' move to national parks shocks nature community

https://news.artnet.com/in-brief/street-artist-vandalizes-a-rock-in-joshua-tree-national-park-272490

Andre Saraiva is an internationally known graffiti artist. He owns nightclubs in Paris and New York, works as a top editor of the men's fashion magazine L'Officiel Hommes and has appeared in countless glossy magazines as a tastemaker and bon vivant.

Two months ago he showed up on the decidedly un-fashionista website Modern Hiker, along with a photo of a boulder he tagged in Joshua Tree National Park. Since then, Saraiva, who lives in France and is known by his fans as Mr. Andre and Mr. A., has been scorned by American nature lovers and thrust into a highly charged debate.

Saraiva is of a new generation of graffiti artists who regard nature — not just the built environment — as their canvas. They tag national parks, then post photos of their work on the Internet.

Those acts infuriate outdoor enthusiasts, many of whom are otherwise fans of graffiti art

OK, right now, pass the laws: Huge fines and jail time for this shit.

And community service removing graffiti in the city or wherever it can be found.

A year should do.

If you're not a US citizen you are out of here for ten years or longer after your serve your time.

Let the fucking idiot tag the natural wonders in France.

Or arrest him when he arrives and sentence him to hard labor cleaning off his narcissistic and ugly tags. Until they are all gone.

in order to try and be relevant, and get attention, and/or one up other graffiti and underground artists.

The problem is... no one outside their narrow minded "edgy" community, even cares, understands, or gives a flying
fuck.

Some deep ecology artivist action. Does the paint on the rocks harm the ecology more or less than tourist traffic? That is the question.

Wtf? I'm a fan of some graffiti art, that looks like something a three year old did with a crayon.

Make him scrub it off with his fingernails.

Then fine him and send him back where he came from.

NPS is stripped to the bone like every other agency under the GOP Grover Nordquist traitors. They are dismantling all of the government functions that are useful to all of us so they can steal the Commons.

They're doing an outstanding job, really. The landscape has been changed and they want this park land. For all I know they are paid by the Koches or similiar gangsters seeking to make the park system an eyesore and no longer seen as valuable by the public with the complicit media.

Then they'll sell off the land for nothing and the holdings of the oligarches will increase until there is virtually no land for common people to stand upon or make use of anything.

That's what I think this is.
