What are the Talking Points going to be to downplay & condemn the Progressive Victories overseas?

There are well financed forces arrayed against these Populist Revolts.
the IMF, the Global Banks, the G-8, the WTO will do anything to crush these uprisings.
The conservative think tanks are meeting and planning.
They will produce a short list that will be distributed to the US Media and other outlets today,
and it WILL be repeated over & over & over.

"All propaganda must be presented in a popular form and must fix its intellectual level so as not to be above the heads of the least intellectual of those to whom it is directed. Thus its purely intellectual level will have to be that of the lowest mental common denominator among the public it is desired to reach. When there is question of bringing a whole nation within the circle of its influence, as happens in the case of war propaganda, then too much attention cannot be paid to the necessity of avoiding a high level, which presupposes a relatively high degree of intelligence among the public. "

<snip>

"But the most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly and with unflagging attention. It must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over. Here, as so often in this world, persistence is the first and most important requirement for success."
---volume 1, chapter 6 of Mein Kampf (1925)

You will even see these Talking Points propagated here on DU.

Anyone care to guess what they will be?
For a hint, look at how the Populist Reforms in Latin America have been demonized by the US Media and BOTH Political Parties.

My Guess for Talking Point #1:
"They may be dancing in the streets today,
but they have just cut their own economic throat."

To my brethren 99% in France, Greece, and England this morning,
CONGRATULATIONS!
I AM with you!

...but beware!
The Jackboots of Austerity are headed your way,
and they will stop at NOTHING to see you fail.

VIVA Democracy!
I pray we get some here soon.

That will be the message underlying everything from the New York Times to Cable News.

Lots of loaded words:
lazy,
unserious
freeloaders

and, of course, the conservative representatives of the Global Banks will be cast as "The Adults".

These same "adults" predicted the collapse of Venezuela in 1999 when the Venezuelan People threw out the Oligarchs and said "NO!" to the IMF.

get more tax breaks does not work. All it does is make the rich richer and the poor poorer. Is that the real agenda behind "austerity"?

they have been blaming the problems in Europe on socialism. Now people will be hearing that the socialists have won. Wait, you mean the socialists haven't been in power?

But logic has never been necessary to right-wing rhetoric, we'll just see how they get around this. My prediction: whatever they come up with will be a pile of nonsensical self-contradictory garbage.

I agree,
and it will be designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

The words "Socialist" and "Leftist" will appear frequently,
and there will be some attempt through Word Play to tie this to the "National Socialism" of the NAZI Party from the 30s & 40s.

What I hear on the teevee today is a constant stream of how this will tank the US market and everyone's 401k account. They will use it to gin up fear and to not address other solutions beyond those which benefit big investors directly. Period. They do want to do everything possible to discourage populist solutions.

reject unregulated, predatory, destructive, corrupt, criminal Global Capitalism.

It's already begun, and has already made its way to DU.

The Right will simply call it 'stupid Communism' that will destroy Europe.

...the one I heard this afternoon while driving, regarding the French election: "It was a vote *against* Sarkozy, not so much *for* Hollande." In other words, people are just randomly striking out, sending the bums home -- the fact that the same thing has happened in two other European countries so far, well, hey, it's nothing really, move along folks, nothing to see here...
