John Kerry Drops A Truth Bomb On Republicans About Hillary Clinton’s Sec. Of State Record
By: Jason Easley

Sec. of State John Kerry is staying out of partisan politics, but when asked about Hillary Clinton’s record as Secretary of State, he dropped some truth on Republicans.

Transcript via ABC’s This Week:

But I will say that Secretary of State Clinton did a terrific job of rebuilding alliances that had been shredded over the course of the prior years. She spent a lot of time, as you know, working on a number of different issues, including the beginning of the effort with Iran, as well as the Gaza cease-fire and other things.

She will defend, I know, her own record for herself. It’s not my job to do it.

But I wish her well in this race and I look forward to being able to stay well away from it.

The fact is that under the last Republican president, America managed to alienate or anger most of the world. George W. Bush’s go it alone, with us or against us foreign policy burned the vast majority of the country’s diplomatic alliances. Hillary Clinton was tasked with rebuilding those relationships.

If Republicans want to make the presidential campaign about former Sec. Clinton’s record, they are going to regret opening that door. It is easy to remind voters of foreign policy chaos and tatters that were left behind after the last Republican named Bush was in office.

John Kerry didn’t get partisan in his comments, but he didn’t have to. The facts are more than enough. Republicans want to obsess over the Benghazi scandal while actively undermining and poisoning the work that the Obama administration is doing. Republicans want voters to believe that Obama’s foreign policy, and by extension Hillary Clinton’s, are failures.

Sec. of State Kerry demonstrated why this gambit will fail.

Reality: 1 Republican attacks on Clinton’s time as Sec. of State: 0.

I am one who did have a clue.

Secretary Kerry is absolutely right that Hillary did a terrific job for us all in rebuilding those alliances and repairing our lost credibility. She had a great employer in President Obama as well.

He and Cheney should be in jail. And I think the more she remind people of how much B.S. that those people started and left Obama the better for Hillary and her fruitful accomplishments.

A lot of people forget that, along with her Senate voting record and accomplishments. They won't be forgotten in the campaign, though, I guarantee.

Though I don't know if it was anything she specifically did so much as it was the Clinton name being known in diplomatic circles around the world as one generally promoting peace and good will. It was a shrewd move by Obama to make use of that good Clinton name in foreign affairs to signal a return to normal diplomatic relations and rebuild alliances. At a minimum I think you could safely say she took on an important job that sort of coattailed on her husband's record--and didn't screw it up.

This won't stop them from Benghazi-ing everything in sight. It's going to be interesting to watch them transition from hating the black president to hating the woman president.

-- and given he seems to work incredible hours will very few breaks, that will be a lot of time.

At the rate he has been going, he has a lot more good he can do. It will be interesting to see where he goes after his many years of public service.

I like that he got a very good clean shot at the Republican attacks on Obama's foreign policy, before very clearly explaining that he will do his job as Secretary of State outside the world of politics. For the Democrats, it is a loss of very eloquent voice that was always good defending others. For him, it is a time to do what he can do to make Obama's foreign policy make the world better.
