although the jowls are sliding down my face, the waddle under my chin keeps growing and my hair is changing colors at least it is still hanging in there. Hopefully by summers end I will be able to wear it in a tail. Being an old hippie is all I can brag about.
My wife is going to take me out to breakfast this morning and I believe we'll be taking in the dirt track races this evening. I was told that us old military guys are allowed on the premises for free, how cool is that I ask?
'bout forgot to say I found two little bitty Morel mushrooms yesterday so the morel season is about to kick off. I go from one morel season to the next
67 yo about an hour ago 7:35 am march 28, 1948. Born at home as all of us 13 kids were and the doctor who delivered me had to come by horse back as there was about a foot of snow on the ground and his old jalopy couldn't make it up the hills. 9 of us kids are still alive. Oldest is 84, youngest is 63. We all spend a lot of time together. We all live within 12 miles of each other except for my oldest sis and she is 35 miles away.
life is wonderful
Peace.
Thank you all for being my friend

(12,882 posts)I tied up my seventh decade on earth last month. Don't know HOW I did it. I've certainly had numerous chances to "check out" thru the years, and still I persist. I guess my primary incentive is to see the GOP and it's crazies bury itself.
Peace indeed! And you can have my slice of cake.

Remember when we thought we'd not live to see 30 years? Between the Cold War nuke nightmare, and Vietnam, and civil rights protests that turned violent, it was pretty easy to have that outlook.
Now, those of us, the ones that survived, have to keep up the energy to try to hold on to the progressive gains made from those times... ***sigh***
Here's a toast to you on your day, and your generation!

(32,118 posts)I am hopeful because folks seem to do well in my family. I'm 48 and lost my grandma of 88 just this past month. I was devastated of course but she told me she was thrilled to have a long life and pretty much just ignored the illness she had at the end.

(14,337 posts)Until 4 years ago I was pushing around disabled kids in wheelchairs, lifting them out of and onto mats to change their diapers. Did not quit working for purely physical reasons.
When there is a ladder to climb, I do it today. At my size (5'1" I have been climbing to reach things my entire life. In the past 30 years (since pregnancy), I can count on one hand the number of times I have been to a doctor.
My Great-Grandmother, who I remember, died when she was 94. She was run over and killed by a NYC taxi on her way to the store.
Keep on keeping on. If you THINK you are old and sickly, you WILL BE.
