?1427378798Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers posted the ABOVE image on her official Facebook page, slamming the Affordable Care Act on the 5th anniversary of President Obama signing it into law. She asked constituents to share their Obamacare nightmare stories and well, the response probably wasn't what she expected. Below are a small sample of the comments constituents left on her page:

(39,393 posts)Cruz got his butt kicked by conservatives over that, but would any of them not vote for him over a Democrat for the WH? I think there are cases like this where the orthodoxy falls short but the cons never pay the price.

(50,590 posts)There are three problems with trying to unseat Cathy McMorris Rodgers:
Problem 1: Her constituents like her because she does a decent job for them.
Problem 2: WA-5 is basically West Idaho - it is heavily infested with teabaggers.
Problem 3: Given problem 2, if McMorris Rodgers were to be voted out of office they'd choose someone like Matt Shea, who is a walking nightmare. This asshole is on his third term in the Washington legislature. In his second run for office, he was challenged by one Amy Biviano, who was Spokane County Treasurer at the time. After the primary was over and the general election race was Biviano vs. Shea (Washington uses a blanket-primary system; candidates for partisan offices are listed as "prefers <name of party>" on the primary ballot, and the top two advance to the general election. The 47 states that don't have this, need it.) Shea posted Biviano's home address and a picture of her house on his website.

We are required to purchase other types of insurance: social security, car insurance, Medicare and so on. The ACA is just another case.

(13,986 posts)If you look at the history of the clause and the legal underpinnings of the ACA, the Commerce Clause does indeed apply.
Because the ACA is regulating interstate commerce. It is also in line with other mandated insurance products like Social Security.

On Monday Ted Cruz, in anticipation of the impending doom of America something the rest of us would call the Affordable Care Act signup deadline posed a question to his idiot followers on Monday. It was the tried-and-true drumbeat of the Stupid Party, an attempt to capitalize on the words of the President to whine about Obamacare.
Unfortunately for Cruz, when he asked, Quick poll: Obamacare was signed into law four years ago yesterday. Are you better off now than you were then? Comment with YES or NO! Cruz was surely not expecting what happened next: ACA supporters flocked to the thread to express exactly how deluded Green Eggs and Bullsh*t really is. Pages and pages of comments in support of the Presidents signature law flooded into Cruzs page:

Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who has vowed to repeal every word of Obamacare if elected president next year, will soon be signing up for coverage under the plan.
Cruz, according to media reports, had been covered under the health plan of his wife, Heidi, who is taking a leave of absence from Goldman Sachs to help his campaign.
We will presumably go on the exchange and sign up for health care, and were in the process of transitioning over to do that, the Texas lawmaker told the Des Moines (Iowa) Register on Tuesday.

The Tea Party crusade against the Affordable Care Act (ACA) hit a huge snag this week. On March 24, 2014, Texas Tea Party Senator, Ted Cruz, decided to put up a quick poll, about the ACA on his facebook page. Problem? The Koch brothers dont control the conversation on social media, the people do.
Ask a question, get an answer.
The question Rafael Ted Cruz asked on facebook was simple. Are you better off now than you were before the ACA, also called Obamacare, was signed into law, four years ago?
Nearly 40,000 comments later, the resounding answer from people all across the country was YES.
People love the ACA.
People who responded to the question cited different reasons for saying that theyre better off since the ACA went into effect. Some pointed out that the ACA has saved them money, reduced their monthly premiums, and lowered deductibles and co-pays.
A large number of those who responded to Cruzs quick poll, said cited the ACA that prevents insurance companies from dropping people with a preexisting condition.

(17,997 posts)Taking a break from a hard, depressing, work day. I went to the Facebook page and read the comments. Now, in tears but because of the wonderful stories. I looked through over 100 comments and did not see one negative on the ACA as a whole. The life saving stories are plentiful. Even her supporters are telling her to stfu about Obamacare or come up with something better.
My absolute favorite comment is "the Republicans would kill us all for the right bribe."
Back to work. Thanks again!

(32,142 posts)from your posts and I'm sure you're absolutely thrilled with the stories. Many of us were pushing so hard for single-payer coverage (and still are) but it is heart-warming to see how many are being helped already with Obamacare. Next step is to do away with the "insurance" middle-man.
We did. We still should.
These are wonderful. But single payer is the only way to be right, fair, equitable and to stop the absolutely exorbitant costs. Even with this, it's still not equitable.
Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled so very many have insurance and have such great stories to share. But we can and should do better

(6,409 posts)Rep. Rodgers should have known the only Obamacare horror stories are those produced by paid shills. Pretty much without exception, all these sob stories about losing doctors, huge premium increases, no medication coverage, etc. have been uncovered as the products of some Republican consultant. There was a famous TV ad from Michigan where the "star" of the story turned out to be the wife of a GOP county chairman, and her sob story turned out to be completely groundless. What always surprises me, even though I should be used to it by now, is the boldness with which the Republican lie machine produces this garbage and doesn't care about fact checking. They know they will be found out, but they're banking on the fact they can run their ads and spread their rumors for a while before the truth comes out. I guess it's been working for them, so they'll go right on doing it. But the ACA is gradually becoming a problem for them, because ordinary citizens have direct experience with ACA, and that experience is generally OK, and they're telling their friends. Best of all, they're talking back to the Republicans trying to undermine the ACA.

(53,661 posts)When we look at Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers on the issues, we realized that McMorris voted with the Republican leadership most of the time. She voted with her party 97% of the time in the 111th Congress while casting 1654 votes making her one of the most partisan members of congress. This includes her vote for the 2013 GOP Budget to end Medicare as we know it. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers voting record agreed with the American Conservative Union 96% percent of the time. Also, the Club for Growth scored her as voting with them 94% of the time. She voted with the Family Research Council 100% of the time, the National Taxpayers Union 89% of the time, and the National Chamber of Commerce 100% of the time (see WikiPedia).
Cathy McMorris Rodgers Voting Record on Health Care
Voted for cuts to Medicaid and Medicare
ReformVoted Against Health Care Reform
Voted Against Cost-Saving Measures in the Health Insurance Industry
Voted for Cuts to Social Security
Voted Against Food for Children and the Disabled

In office 10 years, a gift that Spokane keeps on giving Washington State. See, it CAN happen in a blue state. Her voting record ranges from 97% to 100% in line with GOP conservatives including the most radical. Look at who she hangs around with. No difference in the two parties, huh?
