LINCOLN — A bill setting up a pilot study of hemp oil’s effectiveness in treating seizure disorders was advanced by a legislative committee on Tuesday, but the panel balked, for now, at moving forward a broader medical marijuana bill.

The sponsor of the medical pot measure said he was disappointed and remained “adamant” that his bill can’t be delayed.

“There’s too many people hurting and suffering,” State Sen. Tommy Garrett of Bellevue said.

On Tuesday, members of the Legislature’s Judiciary Committee voted 6-0, with one senator absent and one senator present and not voting, to send the hemp oil bill to debate by the full Legislature.

1. Hemp oil is not what people use for seizure treatment.

It is called Cannabis Oil, and it is not the same as Hemp Oil.

This bill is apparently going to study the wrong substance. I suggest they get the wording changed now.
