The Hill ?@thehillTed Cruz is signing up for ObamaCare one day after vowing to repeal "every word" of it: http://ow.ly/KKRDi
Sen. Ted Cruz is signing up for ObamaCare one day after launching his presidential bid.
Cruz, one of the biggest ObamaCare foes in Congress, found himself without health insurance after his wife, an executive at Goldman Sachs, announced she is taking an unpaid leave to join his campaign. He will now head to HealthCare.gov to sign up for a plan.
"We will presumably go on the exchange and sign up for health care and we're in the process of transitioning over to do that," Cruz told the Des Moines Register on Tuesday.
The Texas senator was previously covered by a Goldman Sachs plan that was worth at least $20,000 a year, according to a 2013 report from The New York Times.
...it gets worse.
from TPM: Cruz Criticizes Wife's Firm, Goldman Sachs, Over 'Crony Capitalism'
Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Tuesday evening criticized the "crony capitalism" at Goldman Sachs, where his wife is employed.
Bloomberg News' Mark Halperin asked Cruz whether Goldman Sachs has a positive or negative impact in the U.S.
"Like any institution, there's some of both," Cruz responded. "Goldman is one of the biggest banks on Wall Street, and my criticism with Washington is they engage in crony capitalism. They give favors to Wall Street and big business and that's why I've been an outspoken opponent of crony capitalism, taking on leaders in both parties."
Cruz's wife, Heidi Cruz, worked at Goldman Sachs as a managing director, but recently took unpaid leave from the firm to help her husband with his presidential campaign.
...what's next? Another Cruz filibuster about government waste costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars? Another Cruz-supported government shutdown costing taxpayers another $24 billion?

This MFer shut down the government in hopes of defunding Obamacare, then turned around and enrolled in it. You just can't make this shit up.

(12,017 posts)dollars to doughnuts he's gonna use this. then it won't matter what was said at this point about him signing up. trust me, he has no desire for it to slip by... he wants people to see this.

(86,016 posts)...most of his fellow republicans saw through this trap and opted, instead, to enroll as individuals, rather than as a couple as Cruz and his wife did, to avoid the premium-sharing benefit of the plan that they've (he's) been railing against.
Bottom-line, this man isn't some Machiavellian genius; he's just another hypocritical, lying republican buffoon. To assume he's going to pull some fast one assumes there's something flawed about the Obamacare option which is just not the case.

he can highlight and contrast... and the contrasts are where the 'point' will come from.

(86,016 posts)...that has any resemblance to the truth.
Enrolling personally, including his wife in the plan, doesn't make any objection he might have had any more real. It only highlights his hypocrisy.
It might help your case if you could spell out where you think he has an opportunity to 'highlight and contrast.' Although, I'd have to think it could be fairly easily rebutted.

But if your wife leaves Goldman Sachs,
And you don't want to pay the tax,
Try it! Try it!
You may see Obamacare is good for thee.

(34,845 posts)By the same token, Cruz should 'donate' his healthcare (i.e. do without) to be true to his so-called principles. But he won't because he's a Conservative.
