Pat Robertson was quite perturbed by a 700 Club viewer who asked him why some Christians believe that they should have a right to refuse service to others because they dont agree with their lifestyle, telling the televangelist that such actions wont bring them closer to Jesus. Youre really mixed up, Robertson said. We are not supposed to endorse peoples sin.
He explained that while restaurants should not discriminate against customers looking for a meal whether theyre gay or blue or pink or whatever they are, Christians must draw the line when the customers ask: will you please participate in my ungodly lifestyle?
Robertson insisted that Jesus would also refuse service to such people, adding that Paul the Apostle said if somebody gives you meat and doesnt say anything about it, then you eat the meat; but if he says this is meat offered to idols, then you dont eat it because you dont want to participate in idol worship.
Ironically, Paul said in his letter to the Corinthians that Christians actually are permitted to eat food sacrificed to idols as long as they are strong in their faith that there is but one God: food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.

(50,414 posts)The Constitution of the United States, for instance, is a marvelous document for self-government by Christian people. But the minute you turn the document into the hands of non-Christian and atheistic people they canuse it to destroy the very foundation of our society. " (Pat Robertson, The 700 Club, Dec. 30, 1981)
"I know this is painful for the ladies to hear, but if you get married, you have accepted the headship of a man, your husband. Christ is the head of the household and the husband is the head of the wife, and that's the way it is, period." (Federal News Service, Sept. 11, 1992, quoting a Robertson newsletter.)
"Why are so many marriages falling apart? Why is the divorce rate so high? ...Why is there such a tragedy in marriage?...Now the basic answer to the basic problem of marriages today is a question of leadership. The wife actually makes the husband the head of the household and she looks to him and she says 'now you pray, and I'm going to pray for you that the Lord will speak to you." (Pat Robertson, The 700 Club, May 22, 1986.)
On his 700 Club television show on May 18, 1999, Pat Robertson criticized Scotland for its tolerance of homosexuals, calling it a "a rather dark land." He added, "In Europe, the big word is tolerance. "Homosexuals are riding high in the media. ... And in Scotland, you can't believe how strong the homosexuals are. It's just unbelievable." (From the Wednesday, June 2, 1999 edition of the Washington Post)
After the broadcast, The Bank of Scotland quickly cancelled a $48 Million dollar business deal it was negotiating with Robertson.
"How can there be peace when drunkards, drug dealers, communists, atheists, New Age, worshipers of Satan, secualr humanists, opressive dictators, greedy moneychangers, revoloutionary assassins, adulterers, and homosexuals are on top?" (Pat Robertson, in The New World Order, (1991)p.227)
"It is interesting, that termites don't build things, and the great builders of our nation almost to a man have been Christians, because Christians have the desire to build something. He is motivated by love of man and God, so he builds. The people who have come into [our] institutions [today] are primarily termites. They are into destroying institutions that have been built by Christians, whether it is universities, governments, our own traditions, that we have.... The termites are in charge now, and that is not the way it ought to be, and the time has arrived for a godly fumigation." (Pat Robertson, New York Magazine, August 18, 1986)
