Does anyone share my recent criticism of Bill Maher?

I mean collectively with the topics discussed & recent quality of guests.

I made a mistake of bringing a large amount of politics into the Sports forum that when I was done with the post I asked myself what I just do but it began because of a poster's longtime disagreement with Bob Costas. It started with a little ribbing with that but I agreed with him & the overall how much of a phony Bob Costas is. One of those claims was referring to taking on guns during a Sunday Night broadcast. He did so when it was safe & did by using Withloch's blog post.

OK -- he was the feature guest with the 1-on-1 interview. Bob Costas spent a long time on guns than Bill Maher says "How do you about political correctness?" How many times has he had those debates but he was obsessing with the Islamic distinction thing and Costas -- I swear -- look to the audience right before his "we should be calling out that bullshit" and mentioned his love of being at HBO so you can say bullshit but he has no idea what bullshit is being called out when he is saying that. Not only when it comes why does it matter & agree with Holder is doesn't affect how the US responds one way or the other but look up the history of the Wahabbi sect. It originated from the 18th-century, very controversial sect from the beginning & I'll spare the details and it doesn't matter

It doesn't matter because it got worst from there right when the GOP Strategist started talking about Iran which later included Bill Maher telling Jack "He has a fundamental misunderstanding of the middle east" which was something he could also say in front of a mirror. But this was shortly after Jack started with Bush propaganda that when he handled things he had a coalition with him that Obama has been unable in forming.

Again, it doesn't matter because it got worst from there. It started when Jack mentioned New York Times & Berkeley which he made sure to point out how liberal they aren't but mention they said it has mostly doubled or got worse under Obama so he seemed to be saying Democrats are the reason for it.

Bill Maher was great in highlighting how silly it all was, the middle guest during her rare moments she was about to mention something though you could see she tried to during the episode ask him some good questions does he support raising the minimum wage, subsidies for subsidizing education support for Obama's proposal the provide free community college collection which these specific two questions were great things to ask when asking if he was serious about the wealth inequality problem and it isn't because the Republicans are responsible.

Both him & the GOP strategist re-flexed with propaganda quickly dismissed the government fund angle & say if private business wasn't shackled & she joins in with CEOs have all this money that if we don't want to stop him from using the money to help out the middle class. Jack got in "Nanny State" which was very pathetic. Bill Maher said, "That's what the Republicans have been saying for years, if only Democrats didn't keep getting in their way".

First I watched in 2 weeks because I quit watching in the choice of topics & obsession & quality of opinions week-in-and-week-out leading up to it.

I really liked Real Time in the very beginning. Oh, that means a lot of Ann Coulter & she is very horrible. Michael Eric Dyson was on there a lot. So was Aaron McGruder. I remember Huffington was a regular guest in the beginning. Maybe not a lot of A-listers but quality overall with the opinions & guests. The call in idea wasn't very good & a lot of kinks to work out but for awhile there was Bernie Sanders, Glenn Greenwald, just not a lot of good guests recently part of the problem which started with Bob Costas.

I'm just checking if I'm not alone or I'm crazy in seeing this.

Yeah, he could cover other topics and I don't always agree with him, but not much else to choose from.

If you know of anything better, I'll watch.

but covering other topics? Islamic distinction is the same thing Fox News is obsessing over it is one thing in repeating stuff on a slow day but they are senselessly beating dead horses here.

I think I see confidence in overconfidence in the opinions by Bill Maher from Bill Maher very smart, correct on a wide variety of topics but it just looks awful when he does it over something you're welll informed of yourself. If its all because he simply disagrees with me & don't like the topics but so does the O'Reilly Factor.

I notice how he handles moving on to next topics, usually gives a last word. Bill Maher is factually correct regarding many things, but this confidence slides into topics he's not quite as well-informed or correct as he thinks he is.

I put a great deal of research into forming opinions. He is correct in that I don't support US involvement but simply explaining "Let them figure it out amongst themselves" shows he has a fundamental misunderstanding.

--------------
In my opinion regarding better shows. On HBO, John Oliver. Not much else regarding political commentary but they do have The Wire that is the champion of political commentary. Frontline is very good it depends a lot quality of it which Real Time often has but don't see it much in this more era of big name guests but some are big name & quality guests so there is that like Bernie Sanders, Glenn Greenwald, etc. VICE is on HBO, actually Bill Maher is named as a producer (I think like an Executive Producer but can't remember off the top of my head) so there is a lot he says he is correct one, but comes across as smug & overconfidence when he isn't. YMMV, of course. Political commentary Cat Stevens was one of the best recently but that was at-least several weeks ago. The topics & things are mostly decided by Bill Maher but our choice in viewing options

I might watch a little on Saturdays if it's on - but that's it. I don't like the way the show is run.

But I watch the two morning shows on MSNBC weekends and - I like the format better. The panels take deep dives and definitely Melissa - she doesn't speak over people she disagrees with.

I'm pretty sure the Bernie Sanders, Greenwald, good quality of guests overall during midterm season, the journalist who was a guest the same episode Bernie Sanders was on is who I'd describe as a quality guest. I liked he asked Sanders where were the Democrats like him during the midterms when he was critical of the midterm strategy.

I also have the "Streaming Only" option from my service provider so I get HBO GO through that but a lot MSNBC, Fox News, ABC pretty much everybody only has the TV-only box checked when it comes their viewing options, there is a lineup of live channels I could watch & some of them a very good but mostly limited but I have no complaints regarding the variety of quality programming HBO makes available. This includes all of the shows but shows like Real Time, Vice, or John Oliver only go back 2 years (you couldn't go back further if you wanted with "Last Week" but generally seems to be the case more content based.

On edit -- I can ABC, NBC, etc with the antenna but A&E & ESPN have "TV only" box checked.

and I agree it is possible I'm the one seeing it incorrectly but I do notice when the moving on to other topics, he gets in a quick word and it is usually right after when someone makes a very good point like Howard Dean's one sentence opinion regarding the Islamic distinction several weeks ago or Reza Aslan a long time ago who was quickly asked by a guest to his right "You're not defending Hamas are you?". Bill Maher supports a lot of idiocy in addition to exposing ideiocy, everyone else's MMV, of course.

Probably not a big deal of a topic for me to focus, I should have probably looked for something else instead of write a thread about it

I can't tell if he used to be better or I was missing a lot of this. A good example is the Senate unfairness regarding made a slammed the interests of "rural people" were being over-representation in relation to "real people". He'll complain about "political correctness" if anyone slams that but that was truly stupid.
