President Barack Obama revealed what he thinks is the most important way to manage the stress of his job in an interview with The Huffington Post last week.
Obama credited morning exercise and his Hawaiian roots for his ability to keep a calm demeanor in such a high-stress environment, but he noted family is what really keeps him grounded.
"I don't get too high, don't get too low," Obama said.
"But I think the most important -- I'm very consistent about spending time with family," he added. "And when you have dinner with your daughters -- particularly teenage daughters -- they'll keep you in your place and they'll teach you something about perspective."

Obama said it's also important to "take the long view" on issues instead of panicking about what's happening day by day.

(10,044 posts)is that his daughters make him feel humble and he loses whatever pride in his successes he has when they discuss their problems with him, and he hasn't a clue as to how to solve them....

(53,661 posts)Obama has them all beat, IMO. And not just because he's 'new.'
There was something in him I saw in the primary debates and in his town hall meetings in 2008 ~ I knew he was the kind of honest man that we needed.
Since he's been in office, we see just how badly Americans needed him. More will come out, and the nation will either rise or fall for people.
He has done everything within the law, and respectfully done his duty to all of us. He will go down as one of the greatest men in history, if we suceed in pushing back the forces that seek to destroy us.
And it's up to us. He always said that... Because he's a Democrat and believes in We The People. That ideal is old with some people, but what else stand between us and the forces of feudalism?

The spirit of Aloha.
'Aloha is being a part of all, and all being a part of me. When there is pain - it is my pain. When there is joy - it is also mine. When food is needed I will take only my need and explain why it is being taken. The earth, the sky, the sea are mine to care for, to cherish and to protect. This is Hawaiian - this is Aloha!' http://www.huna.org/html/deeper.html
