(46,179 posts)and you are making rules and deciding who belongs and who doesn't...
Have fun with that.
I quit voting for neo-liberals some years back. Hopefully, my party won't nominate one.

(10,044 posts)We are voting for frontrunners this year. Watch the polls to make sure you vote for the right person...

(10,044 posts)All I've been hearing is she's the front runner, beats all Democrats and Republicans in the polls. If we object, they say she's not even a candidate, yet we must vote for her or we are not Democrats.
What's so crazy is that her reason for not announcing is that she's not sure if she wants to run. In my heart, I feel she is lying, or, maybe she really can't make up her mind, which is pitiful, or, is waiting for some affair that is very crowded and stacked with the right audience is the right time and place to do it, thus taking credit for said crowd and right people.
Her answering questions at a crowded UN conference was the perfect place. Now we need another perfect place for the announcement.

(861 posts)As a newbie, I do. I think it is important to be respectful of duers who are "veterans", as long as they are respectful themselves.

(23,664 posts)But when it comes to telling people what they should and should not do, there's one rule - don't.
See how easy it is to violate that rule?

And most chip in yearly except in times of hardships. If you don't like us doing as we please, you can leave. It didn't cost you anything to get an account so you got nothing to lose.
Star Member or any members, Star or not, who have many posts should not be told to leave by people with 170 or so posts.
The original New Rule you responded to was posted by LynneSin, who has close to 93,000 posts. Don't help her.
I have less than 9,000 posts and feel humble to be in her thread.
**Edited because I said something that wasn't true and have been corrected. I said that Star members could be jurors, but. you don't have to be a Star member to be on a jury if other qualifications are met. Thanks to JTFrog . .

(14,274 posts)Just FYI. People like me who contributed for years in the past but don't currently (for a variety of reasons) still get a chance to be on juries. Not an equal chance mind you, but a chance.

(10,044 posts)I just took it for granted that the star meant something, but don't really know what. I apologize for the mistake and will correct the error. Thank you.
It's okay if a person does not contribute. Skinner & company say so, but it doesn't seem ethical for a newbie to come in and ask people to leave if we don't like Clinton.
As far as contributing goes, I think we've all fallen on hard times, and I put in less than I ever did. Skinner doesn't seem to mind.

(95,337 posts)It's like I'm living groundhog day and I'm reliving it all over again at DU.
Did half of DU sleep through the fact that we had all of these same posts 8 years ago with everyone assuming that Hillary was the assume nominee in 2008 blah blah blah.....
And these are some highly respected long-time DUers pulling this 'Hillary has already won' type crap. All I think is 'NOT THIS SHIT AGAIN'.

(861 posts)to plant the "Hillary is inevitable" idea, but yea, it gets really annoying.
Every time someone says I don't like Hillary or won't vote for her, and then the response is - "So you are going to vote for the republican then?" -
I cringe. They are assuming way too much.

(1,713 posts)I'm blown away how anyone can assert the inevitability/no-other-option meme after 2007/8. It's like these people were literally born yesterday. (Either that or they're being deliberately disingenuous.)

(10,044 posts)I thought after 2008 when she didn't run that we'd seen the last of her. Not to be. Can't they give somebody else a chance? This new guy we got in '08 turned out to be pretty good, so maybe with some luck and a space on the ballot we can get another winner.
LynneSin
(95,337 posts)But it was a very close race.
HOWEVER
in 2007 everyone assumed she was the nominee hence why this all seems like one giant size DEJA VU

Yeah, this topic is very stale and has been so for a while now.
I don't have any fresh outrage ideas.

(63,914 posts)but there is truth is humor eventually and it is really a tired topic. Is there anything else left to say?
Why don't we keep informed, keep and open mind, and get out and work for the candidate we do favor. I'm tired of the whining and complaining. If a candidate bothers you so much, go out and work for an alternative. Work your heart out. Do your best. Even if your candidate loses you'll feel you've at least gotten on your feet and done something!

(20,277 posts)election for a candidate. It was satisfying, fun, horrible, hilarious and sad.....I may do it again for 2016 on a local level. I'll see who's running, if anybody. I worked on Obama's campaign the first time. Now that was FUN. I don't know if I will work on a presidential campaign this time.

(63,914 posts)It can be boring in a GOOD way! We are a super politically active ward in the People's Republic of New Haven, as I like to call it. We're a Dem stronghold. It is good to be in the stronghold!
So election time is fun and rewarding. I work with nice folks and call neighbors who I like.
What is not to love?

(38,613 posts)I can't think of anything more UNDEMOCRATIC than trying to trick people into forfeiting an election, even a primary.
But they're here doing exactly that.
I suppose my rule would be: if you support Hillary more than you support democracy, you're part of the problem.
