A trip to the White House for national champion sports teams has become a tradition.
"The amazing thing is the first thing that was said when the horn sounded in New Orleans was, 'We're going to the White House!'" UK Coach John Calipari said Tuesday in a statement.
"It's one of those moments for these players that they have probably thought about without us even knowing that it was important to them," Calipari said. "So I'm excited about the opportunity for them to meet the president of the United States, the leader of the free world and someone who is trying to make a difference in their lives."
Obama previously called Calipari to congratulate the team after they won UK's eighth national title on April 2.
