A little girl being held by her mother repeated Cruzs final words as a question. The world is on fire? she asked.
In response, Cruz took a time-out from his speech and approached the child and her mother and proceeded to frighten her as if the world as we know is about to be turned into ash.
The world is on fire! Yes! Your world is on fire!
Apparently being incapable of recognizing that he is speaking to a child, Cruz discovered that his rhetoric isnt appropriate for all ages and quickly sought to make the girl feel better.
But you know what? Your mommy is here and everyone is here to make sure that the world you grow up in is even better.

(15,043 posts)Then you watch, and see that the rabble-rouser first made his comment in a general tone ("the world is on fire) while looking away from the child. When the child expressed dismay, the idiot turned, repeat his general comment, with emphasis, and when the child evidently recoiled, he upped the ante and told her, with a finger pointed her way, "Yes, your world is on fire." And then he smiled and laughed.
People throw about accusations Cruz is a sociopath all the time. But whether he is or not, that was a seriously disturbed interplay with a child. It's one thing to seek to ignite a room with incendiary talk and quite another to deliberately rob a child of her sense of safety and well-being, to upend her world for no appreciable reason she would understand.
