Never-before-seen photographs of Osama bin Laden have emerged, depicting the terrorist leader years before the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The images emerged this week during the trial of al-Qaeda operative Khaled al-Fawwaz in a New York City federal court. Shot in 1996 by Abdel Barri Atwan, a Palestinian reporter with sympathies for bin Laden's terrorist network, the images depict him smiling, sitting before cameras and walking in the remote, mountainous region of Tora Bora, Afghanistan.
They also depict bin Laden posing with his contemporaries, and provide a fresh look at the primitive and no-frills lifestyle of the terrorist leader, who was famously killed in a targeted U.S. military assault in Pakistan in 2011, a date that marked the conclusion of a worldwide manhunt.
