The Quinnipiac Poll does NOT show that Fox is the most trusted source of news

This is what the Quinnipiac poll found:

When asked, "Do you trust the journalistic coverage provided by FOX News," 20 percent of U.S. voters say "a great deal" and 35 percent say "somewhat." Scores for other networks are:

NBC News - 14 percent "a great deal" and 46 percent "somewhat;"
ABC News - 14 percent "a great deal" and 50 percent "somewhat;"
CBS News - 14 percent "a great deal" and 50 percent "somewhat;"
MSNBC - 11 percent "a great deal" and 41 percent "somewhat;"
CNN - 18 percent "a great deal" and 43 percent "somewhat."

The big winner is local television news, trusted by 19 percent of voters "a great deal" and by 52 percent "somewhat."

So while a higher percentage of the voters polled trusted Fox "a great deal", when the "great deal" and "somewhat" numbers are combined, it turns out that Fox has the trust of 55 percent of the voters, below the 61 percent for CNN and 60 percent for NBC and essentially tied with ABC and CBS. And when you look at the "trust not at all" and "trust not so much" --Fox, at 40 percent, finishes tied with MSNBC for the highest distrust result (with Fox having a higher "not at all" score than any network.)

Local news has nearly the same "great deal" of trust score as Fox and overall has a 71 percent trust level, far above the networks.

They have those tv dinner trays we used when we were kids.

On their plates is 3000 calories of all kind of bad, fatty foods.

They are shoveling it while nodding their heads with Oreilly, who is lying to them about some friends of his from Pluto...

Jesus, idiocracy

the vast majority of society only watches 24/7 news when something big happens. If a big hurricane strikes, or the Boston Marathon shootings. In that case in popping big stories most of these places are about the same in their coverage. I don't think most people watch the entertainment part of FOX. I think most people would agree FOX is somewhat trustworthy about breaking news of actual events like a hurricane making landfall. It just so happens for the majority of Americans those events are the only time they watch the news. Which you could argue isn't a bad thing as 99% of 24/7 news is information you don't need.

13. That is an Internet myth.

Indeed, Fox would have no incentive to ever characterize their channel as entertainment programming. Why? Because the "equal opportunities" (also known, somewhat inaccurately, as the equal time rule) applies to entertainment programming but not to newscasts and news interview programming. It's why the Tonight Show argued (and, to most people's amazement, won) that when Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared on the show during his election campaign, it was a "news interview" exempt from the equal time rule.

I'm not defending anything Fox does. I certainly would never watch the channel. But spreading Internet myths for which there is no substantiation and that make no sense as a business or legal matter doesn't seem like a particularly smart strategy.
