It seems that in the end that's where everything Republicans want ends up.

God knows they'll never blame themselves and as things get more fucked up, the need for an ever-growing army of scapegoats and Not-Us will grow in lockstep with increasing fucked-up-ness.

Many animals will attack the weak and sick in their own group, in humans it seems to be connected to a denial of our own eventual mortality, look at how many of the "born again" types act exactly that way, they only care about and want to help (potential) people they can't even see.

Republicans are extreme social Darwinists while at the same time denying Darwinism, the cognitive disconnect in that is formidable.

When you wrote:

What a great summary of the type of insanity so typical of many in the GOP. Science denial is definitely their trademark. Witness James Inhofe and the snowball!

In addition, many of them claim to be Christian as they behave in a most unchristian way. They select certain decontextualized Bible passages to support their sociopathic tendencies to attack the sick, the young, the disabled, the different. All for the goal of making the rich even richer.

Great summary.

The more sharply they can draw the distinction between themselves and everyone else, paint themselves as virtuous and deserving while "those people" are grasping, lazy, despicable, and traitorous, the more satisfying it is for them.

The Republicans are self destructing, Democrats are going to regain the Senate, the Tea party has been destroyed and Hillary is going to be president.

Haven't you heard ? everything is fine.

Since the poor can't fight back very well, it is easy pickings for them.

Besides, keeps them in their place:
