http://crooksandliars.com/2015/03/backstabbing-republicans-publish-openBloomberg News reports on an open letter signed by 47 Republicans warning Iran that whatever they negotiate with President Obama can be undone in two years by the next President, who they presume will side with them.
Organized by freshman Senator Tom Cotton and signed by the chamber's entire party leadership as well as potential 2016 presidential contenders Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, the letter is meant not just to discourage the Iranian regime from signing a deal but also to pressure the White House into giving Congress some authority over the process.
It has come to our attention while observing your nuclear negotiations with our government that you may not fully understand our constitutional system Anything not approved by Congress is a mere executive agreement, the senators wrote. The next president could revoke such an executive agreement with the stroke of a pen and future Congresses could modify the terms of the agreement at any time.

Hope this is not a duplicate. If it is it is something that needs exposure.

(62,477 posts)one of my senators is Grassley who is up next round. Beating him would be akin to beating Jesus around here. I hope signing this letter can really become an issue.

(30,058 posts)They are against American interest and other nations interested in making peace and halting Iran producing nuclear bombs. Bush invaded Iraq and opened a window for Iran to work on their bomb and now Republicans are wishing for Iran to continue this endeaver. Dumb.

(15,385 posts)Please disregard the idiocy you received from the Tea-baggers in Congress. Who knew that both of our countries would be embroiled in a war with our own "home made" religious zealots?
Please note the Republican abysmal performance in American "national" elections, and their continued push to further alienate the majority of voters that elect our President. While they may win big when the American electorate is extremely small, and subject to pockets of racism and gerrymandering, they can't win on the national level, "unless Democrats stay home and allow it".
Rest assured that the chances of a Republican winning the White House as their party is currently constituted, is about the same as winning the powerball lottery while simultaneously being eaten by a shark as you're struck by lightning.
