The judge in the George Zimmerman second-degree murder case has issued a written order, saying there's no need for a gag order on defense attorneyMark O'Mara, but the judge also warned that he could impose one if attorneys in the case say or write anything that's prejudicial.
The two-page order was made public Tuesday. It was signed Monday.
Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. announced at a hearing Friday that there was no need for a gag order. The written order makes official what he said from the bench.
Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda had asked for one, accusing O'Mara of talking about evidence with a reporter.

(11,304 posts)Zimmerman goes to jail I'd be surprised. This man is going to cause a riot. You watch. I don't know the whole story but I would like to see it in a courtroom. Not his family able to get out there with their little protesters. Let lady justice do her job.

Truth be told, Florida has an unequaled Public Records Law. I just don't know enough about court procedure to understand how the interests of one right supersedes the other.

(550 posts)on how to frame their message. At least practically speaking.
I take O'Mara at his word that he, himself will NOT say anything that Judge Lester will find prejudicial.
However, he now has web pages where he can control the message that everybody will refer to.
By strategically deleting comments and letting others stand, He can say what he wants to say without actually saying it.
