Anyone know anything about persistent Lyme disease?

I know a young man who is terribly sick from it (fever and flu like symptoms). He's had 6 weeks of antibiotics and just tested positive for Lyme, again. Is this typical? How long will it be before he feels better?

I don't have any expertise, but I have had the impression that no, this is not a quick thing to recover from.

only since I got the characteristic bull's-eye rash first (and never got the flu-like symptoms) and was treated immediately with Cipro. I have not been sick since. You say he's being treated by specialists, so I can't imagine they're doing it wrong. Sorry to be so unhelpful. I do remember reading that once you actually got sick with the fever and flu-like stuff, you were harder to treat as compared with the folks who were lucky enough to have the rash and get treated right away.

Growing up in New England I couldn't believe how many people
I know who have it.

I've seen people have to resort to wheel chairs , being bed ridden for weeks.
One person had a heart attack at work and it was found out it was because of lyme disease .

If he's being treated he will come out of it but it never goes away.
Once you have it you always have it
