A message to the United States from the World

We refuse to take aid and assistance from your country until you take action on the torture. The UN could kick us out and refuse money. It could get ugly, but it would be a wake up call. Would it work? Just curious because something drastic needs to happen or nothing will. Your thoughts???

They could start the process of kicking us out and refusing money. They can to other countries too. Something drastic needs to happen as a wake up call.

done about any of our law-breaking? Not a thing.

Eg, the Wikeleads cables revealed that the US violated UN rules regarding spying on member nations.

What happened to the US? Nothing.

Had it been some third world country, something would have happened to them.

Criticism doesn't bother the Western Powers.

Because they know they control what happens.

The UN has gone after people who have tortured prisoners, but they will never go after the US. They can't.

many of these countries that are our allies, probably would do so. But we don't support countries, see Venezuela eg, who DID refuse World Bank/IMF money, who won't take our money.

The leaders of these countries are often Dictators, see Uzbekistan eg. One of the world's most infamous dictator, guilty of genocide against his own people. He tortures people, boils them in oil for speaking out against him, and sends their bodies to their families.

A member of the British State Dept quit his job in protest of the UK supporting this monster.

I am sure the people of Uzbekistan would love to stop the money from the Western Powers going to this dictator which helps make it possible for him to stay in power.

But we will continue to support people like him, as we did Saddam for decades, so long he allows us to put our bases in Uzbekistan.

Many S.American dictators were also aided and abetted by the Western powers. The people were kept in a state of poverty and illiteracy by these dictators, who tortured and murdered and 'disappeared' anyone who spoke out against them. See Pinnochet.

Now the people in many of those countries rose up against the dictators, see Venezuela and paid off any loans they had received from the World Bank/IMF.

You would think we would be happy about that. But on the contrary, the Western powers hated Chavez, he refuse their money, he was not beholden to us.

So, yes, it has been done. But read DU and see how many people here opposed Venezuela, among other Latin American nations, who became independent of Western influence.

That is why we like dictators, they will sell their countries down the river for money, in order to maintain their control over their people.

its ugly flower of violence, cruelty, and hatred is in full bloom. Like an invasive weed it needs to pulled out, root and all. But who has that power? Perhaps, we the people, but I doubt we have the will. Sad and terrifying times.
