As you are aware, I AM REPUBLICAN! I am a US History buff, have a degree in Social Studies education and my concentration of history is United States, European, and China. I can not believe this president is bypassing Congress to formulate his legacy. Here is what his legacy is going to be......
Barrack Obama - First African American President, who usurped his political power to throw every good American under the bus with his executive order policies and his failed health care initiative. He made promises he never kept and has the lowest performance rating in the history of the Presidency.
His legacy? Ha! The only reason he was elected and re-elected is because he held the urban areas of America. IF the election was based on area, instead of people, He would have been crushed. Unfortunately, he held the largest city in the United States, which basically won him NYS, Miami, Los Angeles (because we all know he is "Hollybama" , and so on. He knows he is a "lame duck," with the election in 2014. He had a hard enough time the previous 4 years with getting any policies through and now with a Republican controlled congress, his ideas and legacy will no longer be bipartisan, they will be "Emperoric" (Yes, I created a new word), which means being like an emperor. He is a Constitutional lawyer, which means he knows and understands Constitutional law. He has blatantly broke the Constitution with every turn he has made. Time to get off the soapbox....<thud>
No matter.....it is what it is. Obama is panicking, and I truly hope Congress makes his last 2 years as rough as possible. He has made his bed....now he can sleep in it. It is no wonder the Secret Service is having so much trouble....even they don't want to protect him anymore.
And I am sorry to those, who think I am being mean about this guy. I am not. Its my opinion and I believe THIS GUY has ruined our credibility, in the world, ruined any chance of our children getting jobs (with at least 5M illegal immigrants allowed to stay), and believing that he has a legacy as being a great President.
Legacy? HA!

Outright fucking racists too.
This country is a seething cauldron of racism

(90,645 posts)Nonetheless, Hatred, Inc. has propaganda outlets spewing 24/7 on radio and TV, and they have an effect. Haters are more energized than anyone else, seemingly -- they seethe at all times and look for excuses to boil over. They will take this country down, eventually, unless the rest of us awaken.

I mean, seriously? If the latter in particular, was true, even in general, let alone against African-Americans in particular, do you honestly think that we would have elected Obama at all? I'll just put it to you straight: Fuck, no. You know what's scary about that, in fact? Mitt Romney would be about the best we could hope for(and he was a real screwball in his own right); we might have gotten Ted Cruz, or someone much worse......perhaps even David Duke or some other devoted white supremacist. Remember what happened in Germany in the 1930s.......

Rightwingers attack and threaten and cry no matter what he does, the democratic racists go on and on and on about what Obama hasnt done.

(10,745 posts)That is absolutely absurd.....and, I hate to say this, but do you realize how close this sounds to a certain type of RW agitprop? This isn't meant as an attack on you, personally, but I think you are rather unaware of how this sounds.....
everyone who criticizes Obama is racist? RIDICULOUS
AverageJoe90
(10,745 posts)I mean, if that were even halfway true.....this country would be far more screwed up than it is now.....and we have enough problems as it is in reality.

(15,237 posts)A classic case of the Dunning-Kruger effect. Check wikipedia
The DunningKruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than is accurate. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their ineptitude. Actual competence may weaken self-confidence, as competent individuals may falsely assume that others have an equivalent understanding.

(23,944 posts)Sure, that sounds like a republican wet dream. If instead of our current representative democracy we had some kind of Ancient Roman-style consular-senatorial republic where the citizens who could vote were landholders, and their votes counted in proportion to the size of their holdings, then it would be so, and conservative republicans would be a lock forever more.
In the meantime, the GOP will get crushed in presidential elections because they've inspired so much loathing among the urban populations across this nation, which has been and continues to be a representative democracy.

(39,215 posts)its urban areas but when those of us who live in the northern part of the state come out to vote we rule. So at least in our state he also won the rural areas.
Further if he won the urban areas he then won the majority of the voters.
As to panicking, he is extremely cool under pressure and knows what he is doing. No panick.

(5,790 posts)I am a US History buff, have a degree in Social Studies education = I failed at business school
concentration of history is United States, European, and China. = I actually have no concentration. I dabbled.
Barrack Obama - First African American President = the president who has the audacity to be black
who usurped his political power to throw every good American under the bus = he didn't blindly pander to the white establishment
executive order policies and his failed health care initiative = his bypassing a do-nothing congress, and having the audacity to get decent healthcare for every American
The only reason he was elected and re-elected is because he held the urban areas of America. IF the election was based on area, instead of people, He would have been crushed. = If we'd simply maintained the system in which white landowning males could vote, we wouldn't be having this problem.
Unfortunately, he held the largest city in the United States, which basically won him NYS, Miami, Los Angeles (because we all know he is "Hollybama" , and so on. = I got nothing here. This is so nonsensical, I can't even translate. I think he's trying to say that, since Obama is from Chicago, all the other big cities fell in line? Maybe?
He knows he is a "lame duck," with the election in 2014. He had a hard enough time the previous 4 years with getting any policies through and now with a Republican controlled congress, his ideas and legacy will no longer be bipartisan, they will be "Emperoric" (Yes, I created a new word), which means being like an emperor. = I'm pissed off because he's still in office for two years and he won't kiss Boehner's ass.
He is a Constitutional lawyer, which means he knows and understands Constitutional law. He has blatantly broke the Constitution with every turn he has made. Time to get off the soapbox....<thud> = He should be impeached
No matter.....it is what it is. Obama is panicking, and I truly hope Congress makes his last 2 years as rough as possible. He has made his bed....now he can sleep in it. It is no wonder the Secret Service is having so much trouble....even they don't want to protect him anymore. = No, wait, he should be overthrown
And I am sorry to those, who think I am being mean about this guy. I am not. Legacy? HA! = I want a white president who invades places and who will put the blacks and Mexicans in their place.... I wish I was in the land of Cotton, Good times there are not forgotten!.....

(5,790 posts)I would regularly run into people who would make comments along the lines of "there's no way he'll live long enough to be re-elected." Mind -- these weren't threats; these were folks who just took it as a given that someone would take a shot at him.

(6,719 posts)He is thoughtful, careful, focused, compassionate, level headed, and way way not in panic mode. I leave the panic to you and to other pubs who hate him. I suspect the president will be thrilled to be finished with this job. But in the mean time, he will carry on. He works hard. The House votes against abortion and goes on vacation. Not much of a legacy there. You may want to find another place where you can be rewarded for your comments.
