Sorry everyone for finishing the day on such a low, but when I saw @docrocktex26s tweet in Nerdys post earlier, and the link to the Deadspin article http://deadspin.com/cardinals-fans-get-ugly-in-clash-with-ferguson-proteste-1643282285 about the behavior of the Cardinals fans who clashed with the Justice for Michael Brown protestors, I couldnt but think of PrettyFoots comment here the other day when I saw this part of the video.

I have never truly felt like a citizen of the country I have never sung the National anthem I had never flown the American flag till the election of the President . I still have not sung the National Anthem, but I have flown the American Flag .
. and now there is the supreme Court once again striking a blow against folks of color
But but I am reminded of the legacy of struggle of Black Americans of how whatever we have achieved had been against the gates of hell .

Is that the only response they had was the ridiculous USA! USA! USA!
God will never forgive the USA until the USA begs forgiveness to itself.
A lot of nastiness on display in that clip. Those morons should be ashamed of themselves.

(17,656 posts)Not only should it not have been necessary to answer that question, the answer to that question was obvious!!
Why even ask a question like that?
It is almost as if that question is yet another example of the baiting technique some members use here to go after other members of DU, just by asking obvious questions.
Then, of course, if you respond, "ya takes your chances", according to Skinner.
And then under those conditions -- where your response just has a chance of staying on the board -- any response then becomes a gamble upon which to decide whether or not to answer the obvious question, or just blow by it and ignore it totally.
In some circumstances, specifically for particular members of a great group at DU members who continue to support the President, ANY answer may not pass the smell test with some DU juries.
Especially in conditions, such as they are now.
Logic be damned!
And I think that's why grantcart split back in January.
Hardly anyone at DU knew him better than me.
I feel pretty comfortable saying that about him.
Hardly anyone else talked to him as much as I did at DU.
So, here it is general election season for the mid-term elections -- arguably the most important mid-term elections that have been held in the last 30 years -- and I find that I am really missing my ol' pal, grantcart.
I don't know if he is alive or dead, or what the hell is going on with him these days.
But, just blaming it on the Flemish is not going to work for me this time.
Placing the blame on the Flemish was one of the most astute and accurate stories grant ever told here at DU.
I think the story is in his journal.
His story of picking up a hitchhiker that one day many years ago is a fascinating read, because it is true, for some people . . they have to blame somebody for the way things are these days.
Nevermind the fact that running the country within the framework of a democratic republic has always been messy, and forgetting what it takes to make sausages, people look for someone to blame for all of this mess!
The moral of grant's story is that for most people, not everyone certainly, they have to blame someone . . and don't ya know it, it always turns out to be someone else's fault.
Like those racists in the video chanting "USA, USA, USA".
Who the fuck did they think they were talking to???
Unbelievable!
An incredible level of ignorance and racism going on there.
Exactly. Fucking racists - exactly what they are, Cha.

It's not a coincidence that folk who are proud to support Darren Wilson are also proud to spout virulent racism in public without shame.

If the sentiment of Darren Wilson supporters is demonstrably racist at its core, that tells you all you need to know about Wilson's actions.

(53,661 posts)Clearly, they are clueless, tearing the nation apart. They Confederate traitors, and stand against all that we hoped to have. They are destroying the West and the Enlightenment in the USA because they are too stupid to look ahead. Or to open their eyes and see the truth. They are more of a danger to us than ISIS or whatever has taken up residence in their craven, benighted souls.

And it's only going to take one match to set it off!
This video is ugly, but that's because the racists in it are ugly.

(84,102 posts)The video was ugly and that breaks my heart. So much energy spent on racist hate. They would do better for all of us if they took that energy in thought word and deed for the betterment of this nation.

(28,979 posts)None of them were wearing sport's jerseys. Embarrassing to witness. All St Louis citizens should be standing together. It's a class war, police state on the streets and what the hell do we all do? Fight each other while our real enemies -- powerful interests representing the Kochs, Goldman Sachs, the oil companies will hire thugs and goons to pick us off while they continue to rob us blind. The people in line to watch the game somehow think they have the luxury of not caring. Stupid schmucks.
What an ugly country we have become.
I thought the shrill bottle blonde woman waving her pink cell phone in her fake fingernails, her ultra slim cigarette and her flask full of whatever she was drinking clutched in the other hand was the epitome of the UGLY AMERICAN. And she was filming her exchange with the Marine whose service she questioned. Like she filmed her own selfie revenge porn. The Cardinal fans looked and acted like they belonged on a Jerry Springer episode.
I think this video following on the one where the protestors showed up at the symphony were good ones. Take the protest to the streets where the killer cops and their enablers live and work.
