Washington Post's Ben Bradlee in hospice careBy Jeremy Diamond, CNN

"SNIP....................
Washington (CNN) -- Ben Bradlee, the former top editor of The Washington Post who oversaw the paper's coverage of the Watergate scandal, is in hospice care as his health has declined over the past six weeks, his wife said in a C-SPAN interview.
Bradlee, 93, began end-of-life care at his home last week after suffering from Alzheimer's disease and dementia for several years. Bradlee was the executive editor of The Washington Post from 1968 to 1991 during which time the paper covered the downfall of President Richard Nixon in the Watergate scandal.
"He was diagnosed a while ago, but it became obvious that he had a serious problem about two years ago," his wife, Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn, said in the C-SPAN interview Sunday.
Quinn said Bradlee still recognizes her and "loves having me there."

OP
How sad to hear that. Once upon a time there were real journalists with real standards.

I watched the Brian Lamb interview of Sally Quinn on C-Span on Sunday.

Ben Bradlee stood in those ranks.

To work with. I'm so happy to have been a small part of what WAS a great newspaper, and a fantastic employer.

of journalism. People had been through WWII and didn't suffer manipulators or anyone who messed with discernible reality/the truth. I read a Bradlee biography and he was one interesting guy. Self made.

He was the last of the great newspaper editors.

Most interesting; Ms. Quinn is not reticent with any of the details of her early days as well
as her present and recent past with her husband Ben Bradlee.
For those interested, I'd recommend looking it up on C-Span, or keeping an eye out for a rebroadcast (which C-Span does frequently.)
