He's already a better musician than I ever was. I told him that if this was what he wanted to do it wasn't all fun and games, as a musician he has a responsibility to bring truth and light into the world. He loved that idea.

Just WOW!

Ah, so Mary Engelbreit lives in St Louis County.. very close to home.. from your link, su..

"Ms. Engelbreit responded today to the hate and racism in the comments to the picture. She said if anyone used the words "thugs" and "animals" in the comments, she would delete that comment. She also said that those who threatened to leave (unlike her) should leave. And she put the link in to buy the picture. I bought one."

I just Liked her Page and Liked the poster pic that she Reposted.. mahalo su~

"Quick update: So far, we've raised almost $25k for the Michael Brown Jr. Memorial Fund!! I can't thank you guys enough for your support and for sharing the image on your pages and in your profile pictures-- I could not have done this without you.."

validates their RW views and would be shocked to find her supporting Mike Brown.

Reminds me of when Norman Rockwell painted, The Problem We All Face:

The Problem We All Live With done by Norman Perceval Rockwell is arguably the single most important image ever done of an African-American in illustration history. This piece is the most requested work at the Norman Rockwell museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. What makes this piece so monumental? Why is this piece so popular and even controversial? First and foremost, it was done by Rockwell, the pitchman for conservative imagery for almost fifty years.

“A painting like this depicting this subject matter, done by somebody who is embraced by the most conservative elements in our country would make these people stop and think that maybe there is a problem. And the problem is racism. Purely and simply.”-Murray Tinkelman, Chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee, Society of Illustrators.

the story that goes with it! Priceless. Mary Engelbreit and Norman Rockwell have and had drawings and paintings of cozy family scenes but they're not hypocritical.. they extend their love to all.. inclusivity.

Unfortunately it's not a feel good story.

Why couldn’t Obama have chosen THIS Norman Rockwell painting to hang in the White House?
Posted on August 25, 2011 by Kevin DuJan // Hillbuzz, Political Figures, Political Figures - The Left, The Race Industry

~snip~

No one is hurling epithets, making threats, or being victimized in any way…though all appreciate the historic and unprecedented nature of the first black family’s arrival.

Like with any great art, you can read whatever you want into this painting. If you’re part of the Race Industry and your livelihood depends on fostering a conceit that Americans just hate black people, then you’d probably claim this snapshot was taken mere seconds before a horrific scene of intolerance took place — the quiet before a racially motivated storm. That’s sure how Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Henry Gates, and Barack Obama and (most especially) Michelle Obama would see it.

~snip~

A recent poll showed that 64% of the country thinks race relations have either stagnated or worsened during Obama’s presidency, because even though the media claims Obama is “the first post-racial president”, his entire propaganda machine is fueled by race-baiting. The race card is the weapon of choice of this White House, and race determines Obama’s point of view in all that he does.

I’m sure the Norman Rockwell Museum would have been honored to loan the White House either “New Kids in the Neighborhood” (1967) or “The Problem We All Live With” (1964), but Obama and his team chose the dated painting, specific to one horrible moment in the past, that recorded ugliness and hatred that just no longer exist[emphasis mine]…instead of celebrating progress and recognizing just how far America really has come.

I guess this dude doesn't read the comments on YouTube or YahooNews. Either that or he's just a liar.

She is a local artist. I have a "Snap out of it" print in my laundry room. Has reminded me for years to get out of the blues.

I used to clean houses, and a pediatrician we worked for had her whole kitchen in this design. I loved it!
