Tony Perkins invited Fox News go-to-Christian-persecution-commentator Todd Starnes to join him on the weekend edition of Washington Watch, where Starnes pointed to recent remarks by Rick Warren and Russell Moore warning of the imminent imprisonment of Christians in America as proof that Christians will indeed soon face jail sentences.
Perkins, who recently warned that gay rights advocates are about to launch an anti-Christian Holocaust, naturally agreed that such arrests are going to play out very quickly in our day.
The Family Research Council president told Starnes: I do think that it could very well come to that in our lifetime. A few years ago I didnt think it would, not this quickly, but as we have seen the aggressive nature of this administration and this president and the open hostility of this administration toward orthodox faith we have seen it in the HHS mandate, we have seen it in the numerous cases regarding marriage I think it is going to come down to that.

Thanks! We need every little thing about these people expose. The Family Research council has been around an awful long time - now we know what direction they are taking.

(110,909 posts)their recent string of "successes" that have resulted in having human rights stripped from humans and given to corporations.
He needs to fear women. He's about to start tasting the arsenic in his soup.
My best advice to him is to retire on all his ill gotten wealth, following it to some Caribbean island where nobody knows who and what he is.

(15,358 posts)I know that people like Perkins with media-related positions are mostly playing up fears for their own enrichment (although I'm sure a few believe what they're actually saying), but the people who listen to (and believe) them, who are fed a steady diet of fear-mongering, how do they even step outside? The neighbor has a Prius! He's going on my list! When did a Black family move in next door? Am I safe? The guy across the street has a Mexican gardener! Doesn't he know we're being invaded from the south? Why is there an Indian restaurant next door to my Applebee's? Brother's kid isn't interested in going out for football... better keep an eye on him so he doesn't turn into a fag. Etc.
It's like these people switch between perpetual anger and perpetual fear, and the only joy is the kind of mocking kind when something happens that liberals don't like (like Hobby Lobby), but even that's short-lived because their fearmongers start back up that even though they "won" on that and that they represent the most privileged segments of society in race and religion, etc. there's no time to rest because liberal socialist fascist communists are still out there working against them because they haven't gotten their way 100% on every issue.

(5,364 posts)I've seen many of those types of elements in some fundies I've met and know with and I kind of wonder the same thing. How can you live like that? It must be absolutely exhausting to have to always be "on" all the time and filter every damned thing through some ideology test. No wonder so many of them I know like bland overcooked meat and potatoes diets and have vanilla tastes: They must be getting ulcers from the constant state of anxiety they impart on themselves.

(64,425 posts)If that were true, wouldn't he put the most vocal away first? If so, wouldn't that mean that unless you WANT to go to jail, it would be better to stay low?
Or, it could mean that he knows this is a lie and has nothing to lose.

(21,424 posts)Every day this country is pushed farther to the right, so, how can the GOP ensure that there is not a "correction" to push us back to the left? They run an ongoing brainwashing campaign through the willing media to convince the public that the country is going off the deep end to the left. This is just an other example of that.

If "christians" get put in jail it will be because they are disobeying the law not because they are christain.
