info as to how better use DU. Ignoring the responses and looking at your edit, it shows a jury flaw. One can write an ok post, alert, pass the alert, then edit to make the post nasty and there will be no way to hide it since it already passed a jury alert.

(3,539 posts)People who care about others take things like this as a personal insult. We talk it up, try to take action, get tired of hearing about it and then after time it slips from memory.
The anger subsides, we poke fun at teapublicans making fools of themselves and don't continue to take a firm stand until the next GOP insult to sanity or human dignity.
Although it is to our credit that we don't hold a grudge, forgetting implies forgiveness and in that we enable the right wing to do further damage.

(574 posts)been given to us? I want to hear how voter registration can incorporate Hobby Lobby. How every door knock and I mean EVERY door knock; for me it was a girlfriend who had menstrual cramps that required BC pills when she was in junior high. It's a story I will tell to ANYONE I can, and even if it has nothing to do with the person I'm talking to, I say at the end, "...doesn't apply to everyone, but she was my girlfriend, or I would have never known. I look around at my family, at my friends, and for most of them, I'll never know. That's kinda the point."

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Sexist post, this OP encourages us to "gloss" over incredibly important women's issues. It's clear to me that this post is not as forthcoming as it should be. Please hide this OTT, non-progressive, women hating post.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Jul 7, 2014, 02:15 AM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: At first, I was inclined to let the post stand. It did not seem that offensive. However, upon further reflection, it became very offensive. At least fifty percent of DU is female. Yet the issues important to them are frequently given the "hush-hush" treatment. Ridiculous. Posters attempting to shut down feminist issues on a "progressive" board in 2014 (for **%%##$$) sake, deserve to be banned.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: If the OP has a problem with a ruling that directly affects half the population then by all means trash it. By making it an OP belittles women. This decision has huge consequences, the door has opened and now blatant discrimination is there for any corporation to use and abuse due to their so called religious beliefs. This is not just about women. Sad that they have not figured that out!
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Extremely foolish Alert, calling such sexist is encouraging unnecessary hostility. LEAVE IT, and DISCUSS.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: In context, clearly more than just a reminder of DU features. Poster is certainly welcome to ignore posts on subjects; why call attention to an obvious disdain for a topic like this?
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Is this for real? Alerter, are you fucking kidding me? I emphatically vote to Leave It. - Skip Intro
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

frazzled
(18,402 posts)that has taken up too much room ... crowding out their favorite topics, such as "my right to use any offensive language I like because ... freedom."
This is one of the most significantly bad Supreme Court decisions in recent history, with ramifications that are stultifying. Not only does it recognize corporations as persons with beliefs that can trump other people's legal rights, it recognizes scientifically false claims as valid "beliefs," and it opens the door to massive disregard for laws based on employers' religious beliefs. It's a freaking nightmare on every level. And it affects 80% of the corporations in this country, and 52% of the nations' workers.
Do you always censor subjects you disagree with or find "inconvenient"? I don't believe in hiding threads. And in a dozen years here, I've never put anyone on ignore, because I don't believe you should play "monkey no see." But if I were to start, I guess you'd be my first ignore.

If you go to "My account", and then "Trash can", and then write "hobby" in the space for auto-trash keyword, it will magically disappear most of the threads about it. Just a tip for those who get tired of certain topics that flood the board from time to time.
The trick is to pick a good keyword, and this technique can be used for any "hot" news story that from time to time will flood DU for a while.
Here are some more examples of keywords I have trashed in the past, and my reasons for doing so:
Christie -- because I get really tired of people posting OPs about him. I don't give a fig about the scumbag.
Cruz -- same reason as above.
Palin -- same reason.
Phelps -- same reason.
Steubenville -- some time back, there was a big criminal case in the news about this city, it seemed to be never-ending. I didn't have any interest in it, at all.
wcgreen -- I forget, lol. No idea.
woo -- I just think it is a really stupid internet "fad word", and so I trash all threads referring to it.
After a certain time period, when the topic has faded and is no longer being seen or posted about in a frenzy, you can go back to your auto trash key word and remove the word from the list. One of the best things about DU is each individual can customize it to their liking, and this is one of the strengths of this site, for sure!

The edited statement about ignoring posts about WCGreen is over the top and offensive.

(26,117 posts)The posts objecting to the Hobby Lobby decision could hardly be called "a frenzy."
(...not to mention the WCGreen health updates and how THOSE shouldn't be referred to as a "frenzy."

(36,221 posts)That was plain old mean, rude, callous, disruptive and OOT, shocking and hateful, malicious, repugnant.
Hopefully, someone, somewhere in charge of this website remembers their own written words:
Don't do anything else which is similarly disruptive.

(19,564 posts)You're not doing yourself any favors here with your addition of WCGreen in your OP. It really is making you look like an even bigger heel to know you found his rare health updates to be too much for you to bear. It's a window into your heart you may not have wanted to open for all to see. The man is fighting for his life and reads this site from his hospital bed, and you made your disdain for his health public.
I don't know what you hoped to accomplish with this, but you've managed to offend a lot of people for no damn good reason. I know I'm thoroughly disgusted by your OP.

Post edited to ADD offensive statement about DU member AFTER jury review
The newly edited OP can no longer be juried, though it deserves to be reviewed at least.
AUTOMATED MESSAGE: You alerted on a post which was already alerted

For those who are tired of the Hobby Lobby topic, Pssst

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
YOUR COMMENTS
The edited statement about ignoring posts about WCGreen is over the top and offensive. WCGreen is a longtime member of DU and has had serious health issues and many DUers appreciate the updates about him that have been posted here. Or at least are classy enough to not suggest people hide updates about him because "LOL I forget".

JURY RESULTS
Someone else already alerted on this post before you alerted on it, and only the first alert was sent to a Jury. A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of the post on Sun Jul 6, 2014, 11:15 PM, and voted 3-4 to keep IT. Please note that even though your alert was not sent to a Jury, it has been forwarded to the Administrators who review all alerts.
Thank you.

Megyn Kelly (???) I don't even remember who she is, but I must have gotten sick of seeing her at some point. Don't tell me. If I really wanted to know, it would be easy to find out.
Obama Because cheerleading offends my sense of intellectual integrity, and I've removed some of the temptation to say what I really think about a neo-liberal POTUS on a "DEMOCRATIC!!!!underground site.
Obamacare Because I'm tired of pointing out that it's not the solution to the health CARE crisis
porn...there must have been some thread wars at some point, lol
woo...much the same as you
So I just went in and took out the two I don't remember why I had there; I'm not to the point, YET, that I need to add "hobby."
