Here's the best proof that the Republican caricature of Elizabeth Warren is utterly bunk. Warren just headlined a rally over the weekend with Alison Grimes, the Democrat running to defeat Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, and it was a smash hit:
The Warren appearance was greeted by an overwhelming crowd that with a line that stretched at least three blocks Sunday morning from the campus venue, the Red Barn.

Because of Warren I've donated more money than in previous years even though I can afford it less than ever.
God bless that wonderful woman.
I would never vote for Hillary. NEVER!! She, her husband, his big role in the destruction of Glass Stegall --- ruined the economy worldwide!!! And now they are one of the super rich. Look at their history and the huge number of banks that benefitted from the elimination of Glass Stegall that let them invest our money in casino type products. That was NOT allowed until Bill and his buddies worked to get rid of that pesky law. And afterwards, many, many, many banks all over the world including the biggest in New York --- paid them over $10,000,000 in speaking fees since Bill left office as the reward for destruction of Glass Stegall. THAT IS BEHAVIOR that cannot be ignored AND THEIR REWARDS ARE HUGE. I will never forgive Bill for working to destroy Glass Stegall which was created to STOP another depression, and the casino banking system that exists now! And neither should any sensible Democrat that believes that the banking system should protect the people and the economic system that benefits most people, not just a handful of thieves!

(2,157 posts)smart, eloquent, and electable, I am so impressed with both of these two women and the challenges that lie ahead for them because I know that they can absolutely take these challenges head on, not only crack the glass ceiling, but completely shatter it along the way, revitalize the Democratic Party and take on these do nothing Republicans.
I also believe in the whom I believe is the female leader of the Democratic Party, Hillary Rodham Clinton. She has without doubt paved the way for women not only in politics, but I believe Hillary Clinton is a leader who has contributed so much to the Democratic Party as a whole & has inspired women everywhere.
We, the Democratic Party, have such a bright future ahead of us, and the Warren supporters VS the Clinton supporters need to realize that we are all in the same party, we are all reaching for the same goals, and whomever our candidate should be in the 2016 Presidential Election, it is vital that we all support OUR Democratic Candidate for President, whether it is Warren, Clinton, or a come from behind male candidate, we must trust that the 2016 Democratic Nominee for President of the United States is truly OUR candidate.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY DU!

In my opinion, by far the strongest Democrat in the pack.
She has popular support, already.

(1,330 posts)Obama carried Jefferson County by double digit margins twice, as did Kerry in 2004 and Clinton twice. It's hardly surprising that Warren would attract a big crowd there. I'm sure Hillary Clinton would too.

(19,537 posts)In a state like Kentucky, I think one as a candidate can support the right to bear arms and the NRA (as it was ORIGINALLY set up as not being an arm of the weapon manufacturers). Then that person probably would be accepted by many independent voters. I think the right to bear arms i something we should all respect, but have a healthy respect for and make sure that it is well regulated (like the constitution's 2nd amendment SAYS it should be). It's the lobbyists that might even want to legalize suitcase nukes if arms manufacturers could make a buck out of it that are the big problem.
Howard Dean over his career in a state where a lot of people carry weapons in less populated areas to hunt, etc. in Vermont, also has taken positions over his career on the 2nd amendment like Allison Grimes has. And I still think Howard Dean represents in large part the kind of pol we need to have more power in it in the coming years.

(9,236 posts)"You can see from this event there were not a lot of students present," said Aaron Duvall, chair of the UofL college Republicans.
Duvall's group had a handful of members holding a counter rally outside the Red Barn supporting McConnell's re-election and slamming Grimes for embracing a liberal stalwart like Warren.
Is this even true? I can't imagine Kentucky's college students supporting a Republican agenda this year.
