COUNCIL BLUFFS Michele Fleckenstein, an East Coast native who now lives in Council Bluffs, sees a growing community of gay and transgender residents in Council Bluffs and Omaha.
It shows no matter where you go, there will be people who accept it, and thats enough for me, Fleckenstein, 21, said Saturday.
She and her girlfriend, Danielle Morris, 21, also of Council Bluffs, were among roughly 500 people dotting the streets of downtown Council Bluffs to watch pride flags, drag queens, proud people and even a rainbow-colored shaggy dog in the parade for the 2014 Heartland Pride Festival.
