Fox News host Megyn Kelly confronted former Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday night about his own foreign policy track record in Iraq, arguing history proves he "got it wrong."
Cheney had co-authored a blistering Wall Street Journal op-ed with his daughter Liz that blasted President Barack Obama for failing to negotiate an agreement to leave a residual force behind in Iraq and accused him of willfully undermining American leadership abroad.
"Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many," they wrote.
"But time and time again, history has proven that you got it wrong as well in Iraq, sir," Kelly said. "You said there was no doubt Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. You said the Iraq insurgency was in the last throes, back in 2005. And you said that after our intervention extremists would have to 'rethink their strategy of jihad.'"
"Now with almost a trillion dollars spent there, with 4,500 American lives lost there, what do you say to those who say you were so wrong about so much at the expense of so many?" she asked.

Video has been posted at above site, if you desire to watch.. As we know, this asshole should be in jail, not being interviewed by anyone at any time. Let him rot forever, with his daughter who cannot even honestly pay for a fishing license..And yes, a set up, but someone did ask this question to the asshole...even Fox News watchers, who watch this shit, can see him lie...Maybe a few, just a few will wake up..maybe..

(37,364 posts)While the messages coming out of the rightwing for the past day or two in regard to Iraq are ones that liberals have been trying to get across for years now, it does give one pause to consider what the tactic associated with such a turnabout is. The Rs never do anything just because it is the good and proper thing to do. There is always a catch. Are they throwing the neocons overboard? If so, who is waiting to take their place? Are they giving up on Iraq? Does that seem like a reasonable question?
Too much big money is behind the Rs to just make this a simple "I was wrong" admission. Has Big Oil decided trashing our own land for really dirty oil is theirs for the taking? Have they decided the Middle Eastern oil fields can wait until a time when the memory of these oil wars have faded into the past and can be revived for a new generation with more technology and a greater need for energy?
Nothing ever just goes away. It is either put on the shelf or replace with something else.

He and his ilk, won't even say, " I was partially wrong"..looks bad.
.Bush has no regrets on his actions, and neither does Cheney.
and...that is the definition of a sociopath....

(62,477 posts)they have from time to time thrown out some really strange ideas to see how they will be taken.
I can't believe that Megan Kelly would question Cheney without a nod from Ailes.

(38,454 posts)Like, ...maybe we will admit some of what was done was wrong..but this time we will get it correct..
Perhaps..But, maybe it is just that Ailes knows this one will not fly. That is the public will not accept another involvement there, no matter what his clan says. Most people now know that getting involved there again would be suicide...Let's see, Glen Beck and Pat Robertson have proclaimed that we were correct, and they were wrong. Think about that combo!

Dissension among the reliable talking heads is a sign that the 2016 convention donnybrook is right on schedule.
I've spent my whole life waiting for the monolith comprised of puckerbutt conservatives all bobbling their heads in unison to crumble. Time's running out, so I sincerely hope it's in 2016.
Its more likely to end up in "Bush/Cheney were never really Republicans. In fact, look at theses photos of them at an occupy rally! They were Liberals all along. These Wars are Democrats fault. Now vote for a real Republican, like this here Jeb character, and we'll solve all your problems quick, and give you a tax cut to boot!" territory.
Its amazing how many RW'rs claim not to have voted for Bush.

(8,879 posts)Had to look it up.
The term stalking horse originally derived from the practice of hunting,[1] particularly of wildfowl.[2] Hunters noticed that many birds would flee immediately on the approach of humans, but would tolerate the close presence of animals such as horses and cattle.
Hunters would therefore slowly approach their quarry by walking alongside their horses, keeping their upper bodies out of sight until the flock was within firing range. Animals trained for this purpose were called stalking horses. Sometimes mobile hides are used for a similar purpose.

(20,942 posts)The more you hate on him the more the faithful will toss money into Cheney's pocket to "prove" he was right. He was there doing a free commercial. Cable news people are just suckers and Cheney used her masterfully to get what he wants. Free headlines for his slush fund. Cheney plans to go out doing what he does best. Making $$ for Dick Cheney off the stupid that worship all things Republican.

(70,779 posts)I never watch this Faux person, Megyn KELLY, who was a beauty queen and then proved her seriousness as a news person by being Brit HUMEs uh, "protégé" (cough, cough), and she trades on being tough, meaning that she bullies when she knows the target is cornered. She made news last election when she schooled KKKarl who was hissy fitting against Faux's calling the victory for OBAMA, and she dramatically walked in her spiked heels to the back room where the calls are made and they validated that the call was going to be made contrary to KKKarl.
So here she shocks the CHEENEEs who were trading on being on friendly Fox ground CHEENEE stammers his shock while Liz sits there twisting silently. But we know these are only MOMENTS, that when the little shock is played out, the Fox-ster will get back on wingnut script.

(9,426 posts)Cheney and others made fortunes over this "war" Halliburton, with their no-bid contracts are likely STILL paying this old dickless person off. He was a failure as CEO, but more than made up for it with his placing himself in a position to pretty much run the country. W is keeping quiet, likely at a rehab facility. Those paintings look like therapy to me. Was he in the early stage of dementia while in office? Surely the DUMBEST person EVER to be placed into office as President. People in other parts of the world were shocked that W made it into the WH. Why were Americans so stupid?

(23,186 posts)There is probably very few if any who personally benefited from that war like Cheney. WE didn't get what he wanted, control of the oil, so now he wants to go back and steal it for real the 2nd time around.
Sub human, heartless (in many ways) arrongant, and always wrong asshole. Yeah, we blame you guys for 9/11 and Iraq, because guess what, you deserve it.

(9,999 posts)The GOP knows how toxic Cheney is and do not want him out there as a spokesperson. NOBODY actually likes this SOB and his nasty little spawn and the Republicans would rather he go away and not remind everyone of his time in power. This one was planned ahead of time.
Fox is always giving a mouthpiece to the Cheneys, so I don't know. Was she merely being herself? Was she putting out feelers to the audience? Was it based on trends in conservative opinion polls?
I just don't know.....

(20,450 posts)The point is that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 911 and didn't even like bin Laden. Forget WMDs! Why did we go after Iraq in the first place? bin Laden was the target! The reason why we had to go back to Afghanistan since Obama became president is because Bush allowed bin Laden to escape Tora Bora. Obama, like most Democrats, always forced to clean up ReThug messes!!

(7,188 posts)That dilutes the value of her question in my mind. Allows her to pivot and say, Cheney was wrong then and now Obama is wrong. fair and balanced, blah blah blah.
Edited to add that if she did not ask him anything about whether he was wrong, I would really feel like I was living in a country like Russia or North Korea.
