The suspect in a home-intruder case involving actress Sandra Bullock was charged Wednesday with possessing an arsenal of weapons, including several machine guns, prosecutors said.
Authorities said numerous weapons were discovered inside the Montrose home of Joshua James Corbett, 39, who is suspected of breaking into the actress' home and has been charged with burglary.
Corbett is also charged with 19 felony counts, including seven counts of possession of a machine gun, two counts of a possession of an illegal assault weapon and 10 counts of possession of a destructive device, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Wendy Segall.
Corbett was due to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon on the gun charges. Last week, he pleaded not guilty to breaking into Bullock's West Los Angeles' home June 8 and was ordered by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Renee Korn to stay at least 200 yards away from Bullock.

(16,399 posts)I talked to a friend of mine this weekend who works in Hollywood. He said the last two movies he worked on, both with major stars in them, the security was on high alert at all times because of direct threats made by people who had been writing letters and sending them shit for years and then started turning up at their private homes. One knew where filming was taking place and had written an email to the star's publicist saying they were going to kill themselves on camera during filming, etc. etc. I had not heard of either of these stars having stalkers in the media, but they are ultra famous so I was not really that surprised. He said some of the actors and actresses joke about it like "What did your stalker write you today?", but many of them have stopped joking about it. I also mentioned to him that there was a story in the paper about a famous actress needing an armed undercover guard at an event here in RI, and he said it's becoming more and more routine.

(5,455 posts)I expect the bail for the firearms charges to be much higher.
On edit: While I'll defer to a lawyer or someone else that works in the court system, my guess is that the judge is not allowed to consider the weapons charges when determining bail since he hasn't been arraigned for the weapons charges yet.
