As the drumbeats for war grow louder and louder, who do the media invite on their programs as "experts" on war?
One would think they would invite the people that were correct in their comments about the last Iraq War? But no! The experts they look to for advice are the same people that were tragically wrong in the last war?? Why?
Where is the "liberal"media? Where is the media that is honest with the American people? Why are they pushing for war once again? Their bias shows that that is exactly what they are doing.

War, Baby! More money in it than peace, per one representative intellectual giant printed in The New York Times:
The Lack of Major Wars May Be Hurting Economic Growth
The author is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, connected to Big Oil.

(6,834 posts)My question is simply;
Can anybody name one American Institution that hasn't been completely corrupted in the last thirty years?
It's hard to keep all the other Institutions in line when most of our Congress and Supreme Court are rotten to the core.
And also seem to hate Democracy and the U.S. Constitution.

(55,745 posts)...when you want to believe Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice.
1. Only a certain Elite are equipped mentally and physically to rule. They are the people without any illusions and are capable of being merciless when circumstances call for it. They do not need other people's approval and are essentailly seekers of power.
2. These Elite, by force of necessity, will be rquired to lie to the Masses to create a make believe situation that will pacify the masses. They should not be swayed by any advice that they are required to tell the truth.
3. Use of violence and other tactics will be necessary to contain the masses. Propaganda and lies are part of the arsenal of the rulers.
Along with these words of wisdom, this man, a jewish escapee from Nazi Germany thought we in America have too many people who are unfit to be considered equal citizens. He advised tolerance with contempt for these people.
It goes without saying that among his disciples he had some of the worthies of this administration: Wolfowitz,Kristol,Ashcroft come to mind.
If you did not read the title of his works, you would think you are reading the pages of Mein Kampf.
That is the bible of our current rulers.Keep this in mind when some
liar gets up and makes an announcement.

What We've Lost Since 9/11: Taking down the First Amendment in post-constitutional America

Speaking of Russia Today, the Obamabots over on "Democratic Underground" consistently refer to RT as "Putin News" and dismiss it as propaganda. However, thanks to RT I found out that Hillary used her position as SoS while on a trip to Russia to lobby for Boeing and that she managed to secure a $3.7 billion contract from the Russian government for them. Boeing's way of saying "Thanks!" was to donate $900,000 to Hillary's campaign war chest.
Since she is the big fave among so many Demos for President I can only presume that the loathsome trashing of our founding document under Bush the Idiot and Obomber will continue if she wins. Of course, whatever Rethug is nominated will do the same or worse.
I think that point that the author made about "wading" into this is wrong. I think we are already up to our armpits in this betrayal and the next decade will just about finish us. With a thoroughly compliant media, totally corrupt politicians, right-ward leaning courts, and a complacent electorate I see little hope in turning this around and we will follow the fate of dozens of imperialistic countries before us.
For some solace read "Shine, Perishing Republic" by the great poet Robinson Jeffers. We are indeed "settling into the mold of our vulgarity, heavily thickening into empire".

(25,111 posts)No thanks and it is Russian news.

(55,745 posts)Here's an example from Russell Tice:
So, even if it's "Russian news," it's better than most of what comes out of ABCNNBCBSFakeNoiseNutworks, the same group that's now selling you another war on Iraq.

(26,549 posts)RT's coverage on not-affecting-Russia topics is fine.
Their coverage on anything where Russia is affected by the story is not. The folks running the 'network' are well aware of where their funding comes from.
I'll have to take that into consideration.

"Don't believe everything you read or hear, remember a large part of our world is made up of fiction!!"
As for RT: They publish and air those people America's Corporate McPravda ignore, like Greg Palast and two Koch Brothers.

(29,103 posts)and although I think the FRC leans right (along with Charlie) this guy told Rose
flat out that Obama had little to ZERO to do with the current uprisings in Iraq and called
blaming him for the mess "totally unfair".
Rose didn't himself, blame Obama, but looked down sheepishly while he asked
Mr. Gelb "How much responsibility President Obama bore"...I was so glad to hear
someone -- a non politician/partisan -- squash the RW Talking point.

(59,510 posts)Although vis a vis DU, he and Rose might be said to lean right, I think in the overall spectrum of the US, while certainly not to the left, they might be center left.
Rose has often done some very detailed, serious interviews of foreign leaders, notably one with Assad in 2010 (I think) and with American leaders. He is professional enough that it is sometimes hard to see exactly where his biases are.

(29,103 posts)Biden's position sounds smart.

(59,510 posts)The difference was that he moved back from partitions, to a conference of all the sectarian elements and supporting countries in the region with the goal that Iraqis could define an inclusive government that may or may not include partitions - and if it did, the Iraqis would draw them - not the US or the coalition. (Warner pointed out that at that point, the amendment was equivilent to the call for a regional summit to help Iraq design an inclusive government that he included (from the Kerry/Feingold resolution in 2006.)
I get the nicety of NOT wanting the Americans to draw lines and understand the echo to colonial line drawing that is one root of the problems there that Kerry and several others required before backing it, but I think the idea that the three main sectarian groups might not be able to exist in a peaceful government may well be an important point that Gelb and Galbraeth made.

(8,554 posts)Watching Farrow's Daily show on MSNBC for the first time today, I was tickled to hear Ambassador Joe Wilson make that statement, when Farrow asked him how he felt about warmongers (my description) such as Dick Cheney and Paul Wolfowitz spewing (again, my description) their crap advice about Iraq on all of the MSM outlets lately. Joe said that what he sees are the same charlatans who sold us the Iraq War coming to the fore again to push again for a US action.
http://www.msnbc.com/ronan-farrow/watch/cheneys-advice-is-not-worth-anything-283770435605
When asked if he thought that the media was being more responsible, this time around, Amb. Wilson said,
"When the media puts on Wolfowitz and Dick Cheney and these other charlatans who took us to war a decade ago, I don't think that's terribly responsible. Their advice is not worth anything. They're the ones who created this mess, they're going on television now simply to blame others for the mess that they created. I don't think that's very helpful to the public's understanding of what is really going on or how we should be reacting."
