What the survey proves is that Fox News is successfully lowering the IQs of millions of True Believing conservatives, whether they call themselves Republicans or not.

(549 posts)Literally. Old white people make up the base of the Republican party. And the number of old white people is shrinking.
Simply put, Republican conservatism isn't sustainable.

(14,449 posts)They quadruple the ratings of CNN and MSNBC. In 20 years, we might get rid of Fox News. It is a shame it will take that long, but that is reality.

(549 posts)The republican base consists of old white people. I am not commenting on old white people in general. I recognize that there are many old, white, liberal democrats who do more for our party than certain persons of color.
But the fact is that old white people do make up the republican base. And the number of old white people is dwindling.
Conservative republican right wing ideology simply isn't sustainable.

(34,648 posts)I just noticed you said old white people.

(549 posts)I'm saying that the Republican base is primarily old and white. And dwindling.

(549 posts)They'll be like cockroaches eventually. There will always be a few scurrying around but they'll be afraid to show their faces in the light of day.

(86,880 posts)out here in the mountain states in the west, they're not just older white folks. There's plenty of them in their twenties and thirties and forties and fifties and they are a grizzly bunch of "not too bright" folks. And I am surrounded by them. Might not be a large a population as NY but they cover a lot of ground in several states adding up to a few million at least. In fact, you can't get much on the radio other than Hannity, Flush and friends. And the TeeVee isn't much better from what I can tell from the few glimpses I get when at places outside my home.
Just sayin'.

(15,064 posts)they're drivel. One issue Democrats have is to convince younger folks who would never consider voting to vote progressive.

(6,002 posts)The book provides some interesting insight into what make Roger Ailes tick.
He's one strange and deeply paranoid man.

Ailes is more subhuman and has no heart, so even the intro is a lie.

(26,663 posts)and right wing radio exists because the oligarchs buy and support radio stations, not because they have huge ratings. It seems, in America, you only have to whip up a few and soon you have a movement. It was right wing radio that helped David Brat win the primary in Virginia and he barely had to spend a dime.
