(12,881 posts)Republican Senator John McCain said the takeover of Mosul reflected President Barack Obama's failure to leave a US force in Iraq to help assure stability.
"There's no doubt that we could have left troops behind, as we have in Korea and Germany and Bosnia, and didn't, and so it is now chaos, and so you will see greater and greater attacks and ... chaos in Iraq," Mr McCain said.
Apparently McCain is still bitter he lost his chance to be an even bigger war criminal than those mentioned in the OP. Nothing short of perpetual war will satisfy them. Are they too stupid to learn any lesson from these fiascos, or is what ttranspired what they had in mind in the first place?

That war was just a scam to steal oil and make money. Over a million Iraqis,
are dead, 4,486 Americans KIA, 50,000 + wounded Americans, 2 American Vets
a day commit suicide, God knows how many PTSD cases, and over $3 Trillion
pissed away.
And when will Lindsey Graham demand hearings into what happened?

So let the prosecutions begin. This is a very good reason to do so, the lies, 'it'll take months, weeks probably' Rumsfeld the liar. It will cost $40 Billion, tops, again Rumsfeld the liar, it has cost at least a TRILLION.
What is everyone waiting for, these images from Bush/Cheney's Democracy are enough to start the investigations and end the pretense that this was ever anything but an historical Crime Against Humanity, for Profit!

(22,945 posts)And we'll hear all the same BS from conservatives this time too. For the rest of our lives. "We lost the war because the media and anti-war liberals sapped our will to fight and forced us to withdraw before the job was finished." Don't say I didn't warn you!

They know how to start wars but are clueless about peace.

I doubt they've lost a moment's sleep over what they did.
On edit: remember, we're the ones in the "reality-based community" that has to deal with and clean up the messes they made. They go on to live their charmed lives and reminisce about their smashing successes over cocktails.

(8,846 posts)The absolute best outcome we could hope for with an invasion was a Iran backed, Shia fundamentalist state.
As soon as Baghdad falls, that's what we'll have. Along with a much richer Dick Cheney.

(2,518 posts)Dubya's got his Gold Saddam pistol. Cheney's family is set for life on those Halliburton dividends. Rumsfeld has sold plenty of TamiFlu and Rice's husba... ummm... she's back in Academia, where she belongs.
And of course, plenty of human beings are killing each other, helping to keep the population of the planet in check. That project might not being moving along nearly as quickly as they had hoped, but it certainly isn't slowing down at all.
Rove was 100% correct. These people were "history's actors." We've done very little but respond to their actions ever since 9/11. That was their magic moment, and they took full advantage of it. Their purpose was to reshape the world into a Global Corporate Fascist order, and make the money flow to the top even faster than it was before. Has that changed?
Can you honestly say that they failed in their attempts to get Iraqi oil out of the hands of the state oil company into the hands of the multinationals? And with this latest stuff in Kirkuk, prices went up. Bingo!!!

Yeah, you parroted every ShrubCHEENEE weekly changing rationale for the illegal aggression, until, when every one of them was shot down so to speak, you came up with one that actually made sense (which the Shrub regime never actually adopted): We need to kick somebody's butt. Still, it might have been nice to select the CORRECT butt to kick. But Shrub was on his own mission, to take revenge on all of the BUSH family enemies --- Saddam, yes, but top to bottom GORE, Dan RATHER, and the list goes on. Plus he has sealed all of Poppys and his records.
So the current chaos everywhere but especially Iraq Redux, yes, its Shrubs fault and OBAMAs to be mired in the clean-up again. Who says wingnuts are for small government trillions in boondoggles from this to border security and bailouts.
And, who are these insurgents first were told theyre Al Qaeda, now its turning out theyre KURDS. Arent these the poor oppressed minority we were supposed to be championing???????
Gratuitous addendum: Here's remembering the dead crew when Poppy was parachuting.
