I love the idea! Network executives should crawl on their knees to beg Neil deGrasse Tyson to host another season of Cosmos.

(18,585 posts)A bit less hyper-melodramatic music and visuals, more meat.
And I swear there must be more commercials in that show than others I watch. Just when the sweeping music has died down and they're getting into something non-preachy, something actually science-y or historical.. cut to fucking commercial.

Five seasons so far...

I love Tyson and Druyan, and I'm not trashing Cosmos, it was fine for the casual viewer.

(62,325 posts)I loved Neil as the host, so yes, he should return if there is a second season, imo.

(12,081 posts)Universe Works, and Wonders of the Solar System. I'm not sure why but Cosmos just hasn't captured my attention the way the other show have. I do like how Cosmos brings attention to unknown scientists though.

(12,047 posts)And the cheesy cartoon graphics were the worst. I know it's in primetime and all, but you don't have to teach to just 6th graders. Non-stop history lectures get boring.....I give my vote for new host to Amy Mainzer.

I really liked the episode that compared doubt over age-of-the-earth technique and the petroleum industry's attempt to poo-poo scientific evidence of lead pollution.
Stylistically, the way-out CGI "spaceship" motif is pretty weak, and while I get the attempt to use edgy animation to illustrate things, the contrast between gee-whiz future stuff and gritty, wobbly cartoons is jarring.
And sometimes the content is all over. One of the last ones had dark matter and also Voyager?
I like Tyson, and I'm glad he's out there promoting science. I do hope he gets a chance to continue.
Don't know if I'll be watching though.
