(16,286 posts)They will hem and haw about the multiple nightmare positions the cons take, but they will say this every single god damn time:
"People on welfare or unemployment are lazy, they are gaming the system and I am tired of my tax dollars supporting them"
They might as well be saying "Martians have invaded my backyard and are growing tomatoes, and I am sick of paying my tax dollars to NASA for building rockets"

this is not for the talking heads - this is for the average voter who fights against their own best interest

(25,294 posts)Some are embarrassed to admit that they are Repubs and are lying low. I don't believe the polls out there or the MSM talking heads that say that the Repubs will talke the Senate and maintain the House. I think that that is just wishful thinking on their part and they are really worried. I think the MSM is trying to push that meme to give courage to these questioning Repubs to vote in Nov. Some I have talked to are saying they will sit this election out or vote for the non-Repub.
The Repubs are on the wrong side of most every issue. Their constituents are beginning to realize this in a big way as they see the hypocrisy of their Party. My understanding is that the ratings are down for the RW radio and tv shows.
I think Nov 2014 could be a watershed election - if the Dems get aggressive.
I like the idea of the bumper sticker and billboards all over the country.

Worries me greatly that many wont vote this time around

If you want a rational, nuanced reply, ask someone who is not a Republican...

(35,343 posts)I'm asking the average republican to look deep inside themselves to realize that they don't hold the same values as the party they belong to

(15,139 posts)is constantly yammering about just that very thing. His latest screed is that mankind naturally gravitates toward capitalism because it is equated with freedom and that Obama wants to enslave everybody. No arguing with stupid.

They really do try not to think too deeply and think their positions through and get quite testy if I point out all the other issues where the GOP is hostile to their interests...no matter how tactfully and non-condescending I try to be. Obama's going to take away their guns, and that's that.

It's Time to Ask Yourself, why am I a Republican?

(3,557 posts)Every single major economic catastrophe that has occurred in the last 100 years occurred when the republicans were stewards of the economy. Republicans don't like to hear that at all.
