Google adds rainbow to search bar for gay pride month
To mark June as Gay and Lesbian Pride month, the search giant is adding a rainbow to the right side of the search bar when users search for "gay," "lesbian," "transgender," or related terms.
The six-color rainbow, a symbol of gay pride, is a new addition this year. In the past, Google added a thin bar below the search window with the six colors placed end to end.
While the company normally avoids taking a public stand on social issues, the company has taken a high-profile stance in support of gay rights.

Well that's pretty cool. Even though the article is a few years back it still works after trying it.

(14,449 posts)First they had a winning painting from their annual youth painting contest. Second I put in gay writers and nothing came up showing any gay symbols. I am not sure how to get to it. Not that I really need it to know that it is Gay Recognition Month or anything. They didn't put anything up for "D" Day which I thought was disappointing. I am gay and happy they are recognizing us but not necessary.

(1,941 posts)If you put in "gay pride" the banner shows up.
I tried "gay" with several other terms, and nothing. It appears to have to be construed as something pretty specifically related to the LGBT search. "Gay" is just too generic.
