(85 posts)How can you explain the reaction of the right wing media to Bowe Bergdahl's release?
Are they truly patriotic? (No)
Are they being fair? (No)
Are they being consistent? (No)
Are they being logical? (No) Reasonable? (No) Practical? (No)
They are simply out of their RIGHT WING MINDS. (Yes, indeed)
Driven by hatred of this president.
For an original cartoon posting that sheds further light on the Bergdahl situation please see
http://www.stuartsdesk.com
(Check out a few more cartoons on right wing craziness by clicking
on "Tea Party Tales" and "Oldies But Goodies" in upper left of home page)

Your captions seem to fit the bill for the topics at hand.

(85 posts)Hello GReedDiamond,
Thanks for your comments. If you go to http://www.stuartsdesk.com
(home page) and then click on either "Tea Party Tales" or "Oldies But Goodies" (upper left, home page)
you will find about 12 additional cartoons. These are all in JPEG format. You can enlarge these on your
PC monitor by clicking "View" on your top menu bar and selecting a higher magnification (e.g. 125%, 150% etc.)
If you need more detail, I can send you selected cartoons in Microsoft Power Point format,
which might be a little clearer.
Please give me your e-mail address and mention the dates of the cartoons (each is dated at upper right).
I am planning to post JPEG images of the latest cartoons directly on DU but I'm told
I must wait until I have made 100 postings before I can post an image. (I've got 60+ postings so far.)
I've tried to paste an image, but the DU software doesn't allow it at this point.
I try to publish a new cartoon on my site 1X or 2X / week. Please check occasionally.
Feel free to copy my images and pass them on to your DU associates or refer them to my site
If you have further comments, please e-mail me at: stuartsdeskinbox@gmail.com
OR stuartsdeskinbox1@gmail.com
And, thanks again.

(13,986 posts)Martin was part of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division that parachuted down over Utah Beach in their bid to retake France and, eventually, the rest of Europe from Nazi Germany. They actually touched down in enemy-controlled territory a night before what's referred to as D-Day.
His jump Thursday in the same area was different and -- despite his being 93 years old now -- a whole lot easier.
"It didn't (compare)," Martin said, "because there wasn't anybody shooting at me today."

(10,056 posts)Your exactly right.
One of the reasons for night drops.
93 years old and still did the jump...way to go "PeeWee".!!!
is that he did it by himself. It was also cool that they were able to jump from the same type of airplane that they did on D-Day.

(5,214 posts)The 101st comes down into the middle of a German held town and were shot down before they could land.
This is the scene where Red Buttons gets hung up next to the church bells which are ringing calling the villagers because of the raid and also because of a fire that has started.
The bells rang for so long that Red is nearly deaf when he is cut down the next morning.
John Wayne comes along the next morning after his command takes the town and orders the still hanging dead parachutists are caught in various overhead obstacles.

(2,679 posts)Blackspade,
The 101st was not in the Korean War. I think he was in the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. It was an independent unit in the Korean War. It's a fine unit. One of the few who have been Glider, Airborne and Air Assault.
It's currently part of the 101st Airborne Div.
blackspade
(10,056 posts)He was part of the 187th in Korea and then when it was integrated into the 101st afterwards at Ft Campbell. He considers himself a member of the 101st as he completed his service as part of this unit.

(11,785 posts)Hubby and I saw some CNN coverage the other day of the Taliban handing over Bergdahl. One of the Taliban was carrying a make-shift white flag. One of the CNN's guest "experts" claimed that the Taliban were holding that flag to indicate that the U.S. had surrendered, and that it was a sign of shame for us, and Very Bad For Our World Image. Apparently, the concept of showing a flag of truce when meeting with the other side as a sign of "Hey, don't shoot us" had conveniently slipped his mind.

(4,033 posts)was with the 29th Infantry Division. He was part of the D Day invasion. He was 34 years old. I never met him because he was killed in action in late August 1944 near Brest France. If he were alive he would be 104 years old. Knowing my 84 year old Mom's family and the Great Uncles I knew, I think he would have been happy to have the President among them on the 70th anniversary of D Day.

(298,018 posts)President Obama gives a thumbs-up to a group of World War II veterans sitting behind him on stage following his speech at the 65th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France, June 6, 2009 (Photo by Pete Souza
June 6, 2009 Pete Souza After his speech in Normandy, a crush of people tried to get close to the President to shake his hand. I noticed this guy waiting patiently and then literally being pushed back into the crowd. I felt bad for him, and mentioned the incident to the Presidents trip director, Marvin Nicholson. Marvin pulled the guy out of the crowd, found him a wheel chair, and brought him over to meet the President. He was a French veteran. The mans face shows his emotion.

When Obama won in 2008 I told him this is why he spent 12 hours in the pacific after his ship was sunk by a Japanese submarine...
I told him he fought so that one day this free country could elect someone like Obama....
Til his dying day he was not a fan, but he did not argue with me on that fact...
